Karen McConnell said after the game. "With a young team this was big for our confidence. We got a variety of contributions, including from the newcomers. With still have a lot to work on, but at least we got the result we needed and can build upon it."

The Gray Wolves scored 10 of the game's first 12 points and later went on a 12-0 run in the opening quarter while building a 24-6 lead before leading by 14 after one. Lourdes maintained an 11 to 15 point lead throughout the second and took a 36-24 lead into the locker room.

Cincinnati Christian (0-2) cut its deficit to eight, 44-36, with just over three minutes remaining in the third quarter before
Rachel Losey (Otter Lake, Mich./Otter Lake H.S.) trained a three-pointer to spark a 21-6 run that carried into the midway point of the final period and gave the Gray Wolves their largest lead of the game.

Jesse Fidler (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) led Lourdes with 18 points while grabbing seven rebounds and adding six steals.Â
Niki Meyer (Liberty Center, Ohio/Liberty Center H.S.) added 14 points while
Andrea Hodge (Westerville, Ohio/Central H.S.), making her collegiate debut chipped in 13 points. Freshman
Kaitlyn Kavanaugh (Cardington, Ohio/Cardington H.S.) pulled down a team-high eight rebounds as the Gray Wolves outboarded the Eagles 49-43 on the afternoon.

Lourdes shot 40.5% from the floor but committed just 10 turnovers while handing out 12 assists.

Baylee Bennett led Cincinnati Christian with 24 points as the Eagles shot just 27.9% from the floor for the game.

Lourdes (1-0) will return to action on Friday evening, traveling to Pittsburgh, Pa. to face Carlow. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Donahue Pavilion.
