Indiana Tech made 15 three-point field goals on Wednesday evening and shot 50% from the floor overall to defeat Lourdes 94-72 at the Schaefer Center in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Â
The Gray Wolves made 10-of-16 (62.5%) from three-point range themselves and had four players finish in double figures, but Lourdes was unable to overcome a 25-point halftime deficit.
Â
"We were able to put points on the board, shot the ball well, and took care of the basketball committing just nine turnovers," head coach
Karen McConnell said afterwards. "However, They shot really well, especially from outside."
Â
Indiana Tech (6-3, 3-1 WHAC) scored 10 of the game's first 12 points and led from start to finish. The Warriors finished the opening period on a 12-4 run to open up a 27-13 lead. The hosts connected at a 57.1% clip in the first half, and made 10-of-15 from long range. A 16-2 run in the second quarter increased the lead to 28 before Indiana Tech took a 54-29 lead into the locker room.
Â
"We have to be ready to play when the game starts," McConnell added. "When things don't go our way and the other team is making lots of shots, we can't put our heads down and want to quit."
