Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: Lourdes, ranked 10th in the nation in the latest NAIA men's volleyball poll, continues its homestand on Tuesday evening after having been idle for two weeks. The Gray Wolves host Cincinnati Christian in a make-up of last week's postponement before entertaining Culver-Stockton on Saturday in non-league action.
Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his fourth season both on the Lourdes bench, and overall coaching men's volleyball,
Greg Reitz has a 55-32 (.632) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. He was named to the MAMVIC East Coach of the Year in 2012 and the Great Lakes Conference Coach of the Year in 2014. Reitz is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes holds a 2-0 advantage all-time against Cincinnati Christian in a series that just began last season on Jan. 17, 2014. The Gray Wolves posted a pair of 3-0 sweeps against the Eagles one year ago, the first coming in Cincinnati, Ohio before closing out the regular season with a match at Owens CC. This will be Cincinnati Christian's first visit ever to Tam-o-Shanter. Lourdes is 1-0 against Culver-Stockton, having defeated the Wildcats 3-0 in Canton, Mo. on March 11, 2014. This marks Culver-Stockton's first visit ever to Tam-o-Shanter.
Wrapping Last Week: Lourdes was idle after its match with Cincinnati Christian last Tuesday was postponed due to travel issues by the Eagles. The Gray Wolves won their last match on Feb. 10 at home against Siena Heights to open the five-match homestand.
Scouting Cincinnati Christian: The Eagles enter the match having split a pair of matches last Saturday. Cincinnati Christian downed fell to Lindenwood-Belleville in four sets in non-league action before bouncing back with a three-set sweep of Calumet in GLC play. Logan Webber leads the Eagles offensively with 128 kills while Wesley Brown has handed out 282 assists. Ariel Milo paces the defense with 145 digs while Ben Leatherman has been involved in a team-high 39 blocks for Cincinnati Christian.
Scouting Culver-Stockton: The Wildcats enter the week having dropped four straight matches after falling in four sets to Saint Ambrose and in three sets to Warner last Saturday. Culver-Stockton faces Hannibal-LaGrange and Graceland at home Tuesday and Thursday and travels to Cincinnati Christian on Friday before heading to Lourdes. Steve Battaglia leads the team with 136 kills while hitting .381 while adding 52 blocks. Grant Thompson has handed out 270 assists while Zach Blasgen has tallied 116 digs for the Wildcats.
Still in the Polls: Lourdes slid down to 10th in the latest NAIA Men's Volleyball poll (week six), after the Gray Wolves were ranked ninth last week. The Gray Wolves opened the year eighth in the preseason poll before moving up to seventh after week one, which marked an all-time high. Lourdes previous high was ninth in the team's inaugural 2012 season.
The Midway Point in League Play: Tuesday's match against Cincinnati Christian marks the halfway point of Great Lakes Conference action for the Gray Wolves. Lourdes is looking to close out the first half of play undefeated in league action, but will face all seven schools a second time. During round two of league play, the Gray Wolves will have four matches on the road and three at home, one of which will be played at Savage Arena instead of Tam-o-Shanter.
Craig Rolling Offensively: Frank Craig led Lourdes offensively with 12 kills and a .618 hitting percentage against Siena Heights in his last match. The senior has tallied 35 kills while committing just two errors total in his last three contests (nine total sets). Craig is hitting .688 on 48 swings during the three-match stretch that began at Trinity International.
Perfect in February: Lourdes enters Tuesday's match with Cincinnati Christian unblemished in the month of February. Not only have the Gray Wolves not lost a match (4-0), but they have won all 12 sets in which they have played. Lourdes is currently two wins shy of matching the school record for longest win streak in program history, which is currently six set Jan. 17-31, 2014.
Top Offense in the Nation: Lourdes remains at the top of the national rankings in several statistical categories. The Gray Wolves are hitting .309 as a team this season, a mark that is best among all NAIA schools. Lourdes is also handing out 13.40 assists per set, a mark that also ranks first nationally. As a team Lourdes is tallying 14.23 kills per set, which also tops the country. The Gray Wolves are third in the NAIA registering 1.48 service aces per set.
Solid on Serve Receive: Over the course of 40 sets thus far this season, Lourdes has surrendered just 31 service aces to the opposition. The Gray Wolves have not allowed more than two aces total in any of their last five contests.

Labriola Sends Them Back: Sean Labriola registered seven blocks for the Gray Wolves in the win over Siena Heights the last time out. The freshman has now recorded at least five blocks in five different matches, including a season-high 10 against Graceland back on Jan. 30.
Captains Named: Lourdes has announced co-captains for the 2014 season. Serving in that role are seniors
Frank Craig and
Brad Miller, both of whom served in the same role last year.

Frank Craig is eighth in the nation tallying 3.68 kills per set ... the Gray Wolves have won nine straight regular season Great Lakes Conference matches dating back to a March 7, 2014 loss at Robert Morris (Ill.) in five sets.
