Lourdes fell behind by 22 points at halftime on Saturday afternoon and despite making a comeback in the second half, ran out of time and suffered a 71-63 defeat at the hands of Michigan-Dearborn at the UMD Fieldhouse in Dearborn, Mich.

Michigan-Dearborn jumped out to 13-2 lead less than seven minutes into the contest and continued to expand its lead over the opening 20 minutes. The advantage grew to 24-7 with eight minutes to play before intermission, and after another late 7-0 spurt grew to as many as 24 in the opening stanza. The Wolverines took a 39-17 lead into the locker room.

The Gray Wolves tried to chip away at their deficit early in the second half, pulling to within 15, 45-30, at the 15:43 mark. After the Michigan-Dearborn lead grew back to 19, Lourdes went on an 18-6 run over the next eight minutes to close the gap to within seven, 57-50, with 5:27 remaining in the contest. The Gray Wolves were unable to pull any closer the rest of the way.

Emily Orsini (Akron, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban H.S.) led Lourdes with 13 points while
Tara Yurek (Cleveland, Ohio/Valley Forge H.S.) added 10 point Â
Jesse Fidler (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) chipped in nine points and grabbed six rebounds.

Lourdes shot 57.1% from the floor in the second half, but was unable to overcome 20.7% (6-of-29) shooting in the first 20 minutes. The Gray Wolves were just 6-of-12 from the free throw line as well.

Jalissa Williams led Michigan-Dearborn (4-22, 2-16 WHAC) with 31 points and 15 rebounds while Megan Swick and Courtney Teets each added 13 points. Andrea Collins scored 10 points to give the Wolverines four players in double figures.

The Wolverines shot 51.7% from the floor for the game and outscored Lourdes 40-28 in the paint.

Lourdes (7-19, 3-15) will return home to Tam-o-Shanter on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves host Marygrove. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
