Lourdes dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Taylor on Tuesday afternoon, suffering 12-2 and 11-4 setbacks to the Trojans at Winterholter Field in Upland, Ind.
Â
"We made way too many mental mistakes today," head coach
Andy Ham said after the games. "We made several errors, didn't throw strikes, and got away from our offensive approach."
Â
Lourdes took the lead first in the opener, as
Marty Ramirez (Toledo, Ohio/Start H.S.) singled home
Nick Mazgay (Centerburg, Ohio/Centerburg H.S.), who had reached on a bunt single.
Â
A pinch-hit two-run triple in the bottom of the fourth put Taylor in front and the Trojans added to the lead with a 10-run fifth inning. The Gray Wolves committed four errors in the frame, leading to nine unearned runs, as Taylor tallied just six hits in the inning.
Â
The Gray Wolves added one final run in the top of the seventh as

Â
Lincoln Reed and Brian Moore both went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in to pace Taylor while Lourdes managed just four hits in the contest.
Â

Â
The Trojans added three more runs in the third inning to build an 11-0 lead before Lourdes finally managed to break up the shutout in the seventh inning. Ward led off the inning with a walk and
Kyle Sherman (Collierville, Tenn./Rossville Christian Academy) was hit by a pitch.Â
