Lourdes saw its eight-match winning streak come to a close on Saturday, dropping a straight sets match to eighth-ranked Saint Ambrose before rebounding with a three-set sweep of Cincinnati Christian at Presidents Hall in Cincinnati, Ohio.
 
The Gray Wolves suffered a 25-13, 25-12, 25-18 loss to the Bees in non-conference action before remaining unbeaten in the Great Lakes Conference with a 25-15, 25-18, 25-13 win over the Eagles.
 
In the first match, Lourdes hit just .058 for the match while Saint Ambrose hit .414 on the day.  
Frank Craig (Jacksonville, Fla./Englewood H.S.) led Lourdes with 12 kills as the only Gray Wolf in double figures.  Defensively, 
Brad Miller (Convoy, Ohio/Crestview H.S.) tallied eight digs.
 
"We didn't play well enough to compete against Saint Ambrose," head coach 
Greg Reitz said.  "They won the serve and pass battle, the hitting battle, basically everything."
 
Jimmy Leyden led Saint Ambrose (17-5) with 14 kills, hitting .455 on the day with five blocks.
 
Lourdes rebounded against Cincinnati Christian, hitting .374 as a team.  The Gray Wolves clicked at a .400 pace in the second set and .424 in the third, committing just five attack errors combined in the two stanzas.
 
"We played much more consistent against Cincinnati Christian," Reitz added.  "We made some nice runs towards the end of each set to help put them away."
 
Jo'Lon Clark (Compton, Calif./Long Beach Poly H.S.) hit .429 with 14 kills for the Gray Wolves while 
Julian Rivera (Bayamon, P.R./Wesleyan Academy) added 10 kills and a .500 hitting percentage.  Miller registered 15 digs in the victory.
 
Lance Wiles led Cincinnati Christian (6-13, 3-6 GLC) while Ariel Milo tallied 12 digs.  As a team the Eagles posted a .098 hitting percentage for the match.
 
Lourdes (12-5, 10-0) will continue its road trip on Tuesday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to Whiting, Ind. to face Calumet College of Saint Joseph.  First serve is set for 8 p.m. EDT at the Rittenmeyer Center.
