Lourdes baseball team closed out the non-conference portion of the 2015 season on Wednesday afternoon, dropping a 5-2 decision to Hillsdale at Simpson Field in Hillsdale, Mich.

Lee Lovejoy (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna H.S.) went the distance in the loss (0-4) for the Gray Wolves, allowing just one earned run over eight innings. He struck out three and did not yield a walk on the afternoon.

Hillsdale (17-28) led off the game with two singles sandwiched around a stolen base to produce the game's first run. The Chargers added four unearned runs in the third inning, taking advantage of two Lourdes errors, to build a 5-0 lead.

Lucas Hamelink allowed just one Gray Wolf hit through six innings on his way to the win (3-5), striking out six batters. Lourdes had just one hit entering the ninth when
Zak Laubscher (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg H.S.) doubled to lead off the inning.Â
Garrett Jex (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green H.S.) followed with a RBI single.Â
Nick Toth (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson H.S.) drove home the final run with a RBI groundout.

Lourdes (12-34) will close out the regular season this weekend with a four-game series against Marygrove. First pitch in Friday's doubleheader is set for 2 p.m. at Illitch Ballpark in Livonia, Mich. on the campus of Madonna University.
