Lourdes opened its final series of the 2015 campaign on Friday afternoon, splitting a pair of games with Marygrove. The Gray Wolves fell 4-3 in 11 innings in the opener before rebounding with a 5-0 victory in game two at Illitch Ballpark on the campus of Madonna University in Livonia, Mich.

Lourdes took the lead in the fourth inning in game one with a pair of runs.Â
Nick Toth (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson H.S.) delivered a two-run triple, scoring both
Andy Kefalos (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton H.S.) and
Marty Ramirez (Toledo, Ohio/Start H.S.).

Marygrove cut the Gray Wolf advantage in half with a run in the bottom of the fifth, only to have Lourdes rebuild the two-run lead in the eighth. Ramirez singled, stole second, and scored on a hit by
Alex Samson (Orrville, Ohio/Orrville H.S.).

The Mustangs pulled back within one in the bottom of the eighth before forcing extra innings with a two-out double in the bottom of the ninth. James Edwards delivered his third double in extra innings, plating Raleigh Wilson with the game-winning run as Wilson scored all four Marygrove runs in the game. Edwards finished with three runs batted in.

Jacob Weber earned the win (1-9), tossing three innings of scoreless relief, allowing just one hit while striking out three.Â
Brandon Holt (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna H.S.) suffered the loss (3-2) for the Gray Wolves.

In game two,
Bill Laranga (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee H.S.) and
Josh Payzant (Ann Arbor, Mich./Orchard Lake Saint Mary's H.S.) combined on a three-hit shutout. Laranga earned the win (1-0), surrendering just one hit while striking out four in 4.1 innings of work while Payzant recorded his first save of the season, allowing just two hits and two walks over the final 2.2 innings.

The Gray Wolves took the lead in the third inning with a pair of two-out, unearned runs. Ramirez doubled home Kefalos with the game's first run while
Garrett Jex (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green H.S.) also added a RBI single.

Samson made it 3-0 Lourdes with a sacrifice fly in the fourth which scored
Cory Fallwell (Tucson, Ariz./Palo Verde H.S.) while RBI singles by Jex and
Tyler Trame (Toledo, Ohio/Central H.S.) in the seventh added insurance runs for the Gray Wolves.

Ramirez tallied three of Lourdes' nine hits in the game while Jex also had a pair of singles.Â

Daniel Bailey suffered the loss (0-11) for Marygrove, allowing five runs, only two of which were earned, in 6.1 innings on the hill.

Lourdes (13-35, 7-24 WHAC) and Marygrove (3-42, 2-32) will conclude their 2015 seasons on Saturday afternoon with one final doubleheader. First pitch in game one of the twinbill is set for 2 p.m. at Illitch Ballpark in Livonia, Mich.
