Lourdes earned its first victory ever at Wildcat Stadium on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves defeated Cleary 3-1 to move back to the .500 mark on the season.

"I thought we made a big step forward today and played as a team," head coach Barry Spitzer said after the victory.  "I'm proud of all of the guys.  We really came together in the second half."

As the Gray Wolves did in their first home match, Lourdes wasted little time lighting up the scoreboard.  Judah Goodridge (Brooklyn, N.Y./Dutchtown H.S.) scored his second goal of the season, heading home a Josh Patta (Wolfsburg, Germany/Signal Mountain [Tennessee] H.S.).

Lourdes would maintain its 1-0 lead into intermission as the two sides were even on shots in the opening stanza 6-6.

Cleary (1-5) tied the match just 1:30 into the second half as Santiago Almada took a cross in the box from Ryan Neceski and finished for his first goal of the year.

Adilson Darosa (Pawtucket, R.I./Shea H.S.) put the Gray Wolves on top for good at the 68:28 mark, scoring off a rebound after Cougars' netminder Blair Moore made the initial save off of a shot by Goodridge.  Darosa added an insurance tally with 7:47 remaining in the match, beating Moore from 10 yards out in the box.

Lourdes finished the match with a 15-13 advantage in shots while Cleary held a 4-3 edge in corner kick opportunities.  Moore made three saves between the posts for the Cougars while Jose Cedillo (Atlanta, Ga./Norcross H.S.) made four stops in this Lourdes debut to earn the win.

Lourdes (2-2) will be idle for two weeks before opening up Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on the road Sept. 26.  The Gray Wolves will face Northwestern Ohio, currently ranked second in NAIA, beginning at 3 p.m. at Racers Stadium in Lima, Ohio.
