Indiana Tech made its first five three-pointers of the game on its way to 12 total triples on Wednesday, and defeated Lourdes 82-65 at Tam-o-Shanter.

"They can flat out shoot," head coach
Karen McConnell said afterwards. "We knew they'd take shots in the first two to three passes and they did. They are such an explosive team. After we got behind early though, I was proud of how we kept fighting throughout the game."

The Warriors started the game making eight of their first nine field goal attempts, including four from long range, while building a 22-9 lead. Indiana Tech finished the opening quarter in front 27-13 after shooting at a 71.4% clip (10-for-14).

Indiana Tech built a 24-point advantage with 1:35 to play in the half before Lourdes went on a run before break. Seven straight points, capped with a lay-in by
Molea Thompson (Mansfield, Ohio/Madison H.S.) pulled the Gray Wolves within 46-29 at halftime.

An 11-0 run to start the third quarter by Indiana Tech pushed the lead to 28, the Warriors' largest of the game, with 4:57 to play. Lourdes ended the period with another run of its own though, scoring eight straight points to cut the deficit to 61-43.Â

Lourdes was unable to get any closer than 15 in the final stanza though, despites shooting 54.2% from the floor in the second half and 48.1% for the night.

Thompson led the Gray Wolves off of the bench with 16 points while
Andrea Hodge (Westerville, Ohio/Central H.S.) added 13 points. Lourdes struggled at the free throw line though, making just 12-of-21 (57.1%) attempts.

Haley Cook drained five triples on her way to a game-high 23 points for Indiana Tech (13-8, 9-4 WHAC) as the Warriors had five players finish in double figures. The visitors shot 50% from the floor, including 40% (12-of-30) from three-point range and made 8-of-9 (88.9%) free throws.

Lourdes (5-15, 2-11) will begin a three-game road trip on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves head to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face Cornerstone. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. at Mol Arena.
