Trailing by just one at halftime, Lourdes saw Cornerstone shoot 65.2% from the floor over the final 20 minutes on Saturday afternoon as the Golden Eagles scored a 69-49 victory over the Gray Wolves at Mol Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Lourdes shot 50% from the field in the opening half, but was limited to just 31% shooting after the break while committing 22 turnovers on the afternoon.

"I thought we worked hard all game long," head coach
Karen McConnell said. "They started pressing us and we just ran out of gas. We had too many turnovers."

After a tight opening quarter in which neither squad led by more than three points, Lourdes held a 12-10 lead heading into the second 10 minutes of action. Eight straight points early in the period opened up a 22-12 advantage for the Gray Wolves before Cornerstone answered with eight points of its own. Lourdes was able to rebound, and extend its lead back to seven before the Golden Eagles scored the last eight points of the stanza to take a 28-27 lead into the locker room.

A 12-2 run by the hosts over the final 4:25 of the third quarter allowed Cornerstone to build a 12-point advantage, 52-40, heading into the final 10 minutes, and the Golden Eagles continued to extend the lead throughout the fourth quarter.

Andrea Hodge (Westerville, Ohio/Central H.S.) led Lourdes with 13 points while
Jesse Fidler (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) added 11 points and a game-high seven rebounds.Â
Molea Thompson (Mansfield, Ohio/Madison H.S.) chipped in eight points off of the bench.

Jesse Sheridan was the only Golden Eagle in double figures, finishing with 19 points, but Cornerstone (12-9, 10-4 WHAC) outscored the Gray Wolves off of the bench 34-18 and held a 38-25 rebounding edge on the afternoon.

Lourdes (5-16, 2-12) will remain on the road Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to Michigan-Dearborn. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at the UMD Fieldhouse.
