In its lone home non-conference match of the season, 12
th-ranked Lourdes registered a 25-15, 25-16, 25-21 sweep of Bethel (Ind.) on Saturday evening at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

The Gray Wolves registered 13 service aces and hit .252 for the match while holding the Pilots to just an .098 offensive output.

"It was good to take care of business out of the conference," head coach
Greg Reitz said afterwards. "We played well most of the match and served extremely tough."

Lourdes held Bethel to just five kills and a -.029 hitting percentage in the opening set while tallying 15 kills. The Gray Wolves raced out to a 16-5 lead in set one on the way to the win. In the second, the service of
Molly Shonk (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Hartley H.S.), who tallied five aces during a 13-0 run, helped Lourdes build a 14-3 lead, which the Gray Wolves would not relinquish. An 11-4 run in the final set helped the Gray Wolves take a 20-13 lead and .293 hitting as a team helped close out the sweep.

Shonk finished the night hitting .414 with 14 kills, six aces, and a team-high 15 digs.Â
Stephanie Ruffing (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty H.S.) added nine kills and 10 digs while hitting .381 and
Meghan Birr (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores H.S.) handed out 29 assists.

"Molly has a very good match for us all the way around," Reitz added.

Haley Brown and Kassandra Williams led Bethel (8-14) with six kills each while Erin Carlos tallied 16 digs.

Lourdes (14-3) will wrap up its three-match homestand on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves host Davenport at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
