Photo GalleryLourdes registered its sixth consecutive victory, and extended its set winning streak to 14 on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves swept Lawrence Tech 25-5, 25-16, 25-10 at Tam-o-Shanter.

"I thought we started well in the opening set, but didn't connect as well offensively in the second," head coach
Greg Reitz said afterwards. "We realigned ourselves and had a much better performance in the third. We served aggressively all night and were able to score some points off of our serve. Defensively we were strong throughout."

The eighth-ranked Gray Wolves opened the match scoring 11 of the first 12 points on the evening and never looked back. Lawrence Tech committed 12 attack errors in the opening stanza with just three kills, hitting -.346. Lourdes, on the other hand, committed just one miscue while swinging at a .462 clip. The Gray Wolves did not allow the Blue Devils to score a single point on their serve in the first set.

The second set was tight for a while, with Lawrence Tech tying the stanza at 13. Lourdes answered with four straight points to retake the lead, and went on a late 6-0 run to offset .097 hitting in the set.Â

In the third,
Garrett Jones (Las Vegas, Nev./Las Vegas H.S.) used his serve to help the Gray Wolves jump out to a 9-0 lead. The advantage grew to 12-1 and Lourdes was on its way to completing the sweep. Lourdes hit .444 in the final set.

Zachary Hawkins (Dickinson, Texas/Dickinson H.S.) led Lourdes with 12 kills and hit .556 while
Eric Ubior (Guaynabo, P.R./Wesleyan Academy) added six kills.Â
Ryan Ferkel (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly H.S.) handed out 23 assists while helping the Gray Wolves to a .274 hitting percentage for the night as a team.

Defensively,
CJ Rilveria (Kula, Hawaii/Kekaulike H.S.) tallied a match-high 13 digs while
Brendan Brown (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny H.S.) was involved in three of the team's six blocks. As a team, Lourdes tallied 10 aces and outdug the Blue Devils 33-22.

Lawrence Patton led Lawrence Tech (0-8, 0-3 MEC) with four kills while Gospel Sua handed out 12 assists. The Blue Devils posted a -.195 hitting percentage of the match, posting negative numbers in all three sets.

Lourdes (8-1, 3-0) will look to extend its winning streak next Wednesday (Feb. 17) as the Gray Wolves host Siena Heights. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at Tam-o-Shanter.
