Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: Winners of eight straight matches, Lourdes heads to Missouri for five matches beginning this weekend. The Gray Wolves will participate in the Viking Invitational on Friday and Saturday, battling #5 Park, host Missouri Valley, Ottawa, and Lindenwood-Belleville. On Monday afternoon, Lourdes travels to Saint Louis to face top-ranked Missouri Baptist to conclude their swing through the Show Me State.
Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his fifth season both on the Lourdes bench, and overall coaching men's volleyball,
Greg Reitz has a 78-38 (.672) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. He was named to the MAMVIC East Coach of the Year in 2012 and the Great Lakes Conference Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2015. Reitz is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes is 0-3 all-time against Park in a series that dates back to March 2, 2012. All three matches have been held at neutral sites, with the Pirates winning the last meeting 3-1 March 21, 2015 in Saint Louis, Mo.  Missouri Valley holds a 2-1 series edge over the Gray Wolves dating back to Feb. 23, 2013. The Vikings won the last meeting 3-1 on Feb. 14, 2014 in Milwaukee, Wis. and this will be the first meeting in Marshall, Mo. Lourdes is facing Ottawa for the first time. The Gray Wolves won the only previous meeting against Lindenwood-Belleville 3-0 on March 10, 2014 in Belleville, Ill. Missouri Baptist is 2-0 against Lourdes dating back to March 2, 2013. The Spartans won the last meeting 3-0 on March 21, 2015 in the only previous meeting played in Saint Louis.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes limited Siena Heights to .056 hitting on Wednesday as the Gray Wolves downed Siena Heights 25-16, 22-25, 25-12, 25-10 at Tam-o-Shanter.Â
Garrett Jones hit .481 with 16 kills while
CJ Rilveria tallied 22 digs. On Friday night, the Gray Wolves hit .280 on the way to a 25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 25-20 triumph over Cardinal Stritch at Springfield High School.Â
Ryan Maune hit .562 with 11 kills while
Ryan Ferkel added 47 assists and 13 digs.
Scouting Park: The Pirates have won three straight matches after a sweep at home versus Missouri Valley last Tuesday. Park hosts Missouri Baptist on Wednesday before facing Lourdes. Daniel Arteaga leads the Pirates with 185 kills and 12 aces while adding 94 digs, second most on the squad.
Scouting Missouri Valley: The Vikings snapped a four-match losing skid on Tuesday with a 3-0 sweep against Grand View. Stephen Bilkey has posted a team-high 118 kills and second on the squad with 77 digs. Missouri Valley faces Clarke on Saturday before meeting Lourdes.
Scouting Ottawa: The Braves enter the week following a 3-0 victory over Lindenwood-Belleville on Saturday. Ottawa faces UC Merced and Culver-Stockton on Friday before meeting Lourdes on Saturday. Daniel Jacobs leads the Braves with 340 kills, is hitting .309, and has a team-high 94 digs.
Scouting Lindenwood-Belleville: The Lynx entered the week having dropped a 3-0 match to Ottawa last Saturday, and play four times before facing the Gray Wolves. Taylor Tattersall has posted a team-high 84 kills while Jacob Sobkoviak has tallied 116 digs.
Scouting Missouri Baptist: The Spartans remain perfect on the season after a 3-1 win over Culver-Stockton on Monday. Missouri Baptist travels to Park and battles Greenville and Missouri Valley before facing Lourdes. Mico Janicijevic is hitting .333 and has a team-high 184 kills to pace the Spartans.
Ferkel Earns National Honors: Ryan Ferkel was named the NAIA National Setter of the Week for the first time in his career after averaging 12.25 assists, 3.0 digs, and 0.88 blocks per set in victories over Siena Heights and Cardinal Stritch.
Record-Setting Streak: Lourdes has matched its school record having won eight consecutive matches. The Gray Wolves also won eight straight contests from Feb. 3 through March 6, 2015.
Among the Nation's Leaders: As a team, Lourdes leads the nation statistically in three different categories. The Gray Wolves are tallying 12.95 digs per set and 13.19 kills per set while handing out 12.32 assists per set. In addition, the Gray Wolves are third in the country hitting .294 as a team.
Individual Leaders: CJ Rilveria ranks third in all of NAIA men's volleyball tallying 3.78 digs per set this season while
Ryan Ferkel is third nationally handing out 10.57 assists per set.
Ryan Maune ranks third in the country tallying 1.31 blocks per set.Â
Brendan Brown is fourth in the NAIA hitting at a .471 clip.
