Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: Lourdes reaches the midway point of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference schedule on Wednesday as the Gray Wolves host Siena Heights. Lourdes begins the second round of league play on the road Saturday, traveling to Davenport for a rematch of the WHAC opener.
On the Air: Wednesday's game against Siena Heights will be broadcast by BCSN on Buckeye Cablesystem. The game will air on Wednesday night at 11:30 p.m. as well as Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. and Friday morning at 4 a.m. In addition, BCSN2 will show the game on Thursday at 4 a.m. and 10 a.m., Friday at 12:01 a.m. and 8 a.m., and Sunday at 2 a.m.
Head Coach Paul Sieben: In his third season on the Lourdes bench,
Paul Sieben has a 9-30 (.231) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves and as a collegiate head coach. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Siena Heights leads the all-time series with Lourdes 4-0 dating back to March 18, 2014. Last season the Saints won a pair of tight games in Adrian, Mich., posting a 10-9 victory on March 20 and a 12-9 triumph on April 7. Davenport is 5-0 all-time against Lourdes dating back to March 8, 2014. Earlier this season the Panthers scored a 21-2 victory over the Gray Wolves at Wildcat Stadium on March 16. Davenport holds a 2-0 series edge in Grand Rapids.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lawrence Tech scored 17 of the game's first 18 goals on Wednesday on the way to a 19-2 victory over Lourdes in Beverly Hills, Mich.Â
Alyssa Long and
Jessie Frost each scored for the Gray Wolves. On Saturday, Indiana Tech jumped out to a 12-1 lead on the way to a 19-6 victory in Fort Wayne, Ind. Long scored three times and Frost added two goals while
Anna Zofchak also added a tally for the Gray Wolves.
Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints have dropped three of their last four games after falling 21-2 at home against Indiana Tech on Wednesday. Kayla Parks has scored a team-high 15 goals while Aliisa Mason leads the Saints with 20 points on the year, having tallied 14 goals and added six assists. Haley Parker has a team-high eight assists. In goal, Tabitha Ferguson has played a majority of the minutes, sporting a 11.09 goals against average and a .384 save percentage.
Scouting Davenport: The Panthers have won five straight games after a 14-11 win over Lawrence Tech on Saturday. Davenport hosts Indiana Tech on Wednesday before Lourdes visits. Brooke Knoll leads the Panthers with 28 goals and 30 points while Tara Pluger has a team-high 15 assists. In goal, Samantha Powers has played a majority of the minutes, sporting a 6.00 GAA and a .512 save percentage.
Looking to Set a New Wins Mark: Lourdes has matched its previous high for wins in a season after tallying its fourth victory of the year against Aquinas. The Gray Wolves also won four games in 2015. In fact, with its next win, Lourdes will have doubled its previous total of all-time victories, as the Gray Wolves won five contests in its first two seasons combined.
Freshmen Duo Make an Impact: Klarque Scott and
Anna Zofchak have helped the Lourdes offense greatly this season. The duo rank third and fourth respectively in scoring for the Gray Wolves. Scott has found the back of the net eight times while Zofchak has added seven goals. The 15 goals represent 22% of the team's total offense.
Doing a Little of Everything: Jessie Frost ranks among the team leaders in several categories this season. The seniors has scored 16 goals, has two assists, and 18 total points, all marks that rank second on the squad. Frost leads the team with 23 draw controls as well, while ranking third with 12 ground balls.
Long Piling Up the Goals: Alyssa Long enters the week with a team-leading 23 goals and 29 points. The sophomore now has 73 career goals and 84 total points just over the halfway point of her second season at Lourdes, both school records.
