Lourdes continued its 10-game road trip on Wednesday afternoon, dropping a doubleheader to Northwestern Ohio 11-1 and 11-2 at Racer Stadium in Lima, Ohio.

"We didn't compete well mentally today," head coach
Jeremy Snow said afterwards. "When you make mental mistakes against good teams, it's almost worse than physical errors."

In the opener Northwestern Ohio jumped out to a 6-0 lead with four runs in the third and two more in the fourth before Lourdes broke through on the scoreboard.Â

Alex Samson (Orrville, Ohio/Orrville H.S.) delivered a two-base hit of his own for a RBI.

The Racers answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth and added four more in the seventh to close out the win.

Riggs went 2-for-2 while
Nick Toth (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson H.S.) also had two hits for Lourdes in the opener to account for two-thirds of the team's hits. Alex Leach went 3-for-4 with three RBI for Northwestern Ohio while Kyle Fisher also had three hits, scored three times and had two RBI.

Ryan Carter earned the win (1-0), allowing one run and six hits in six innings of work, striking out nine.Â
A.J. Schraffenberger (Cincinnati, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick H.S.) took the loss (1-5), giving up seven runs and 10 hits in six innings on the hill.

Game two nearly followed the same script as the opener, with the Racers scoring four times in the third and adding three more runs in the fourth to build a 7-0 lead. Riggs broke up the shutout with a home run to left-center, his second of the season.

Northwestern Ohio (16-8, 5-3 WHAC) answered with a run in the fifth and three more in the sixth before Lourdes added one late tally.Â
Devin Stanley (Euclid, Ohio/Saint Edward H.S.) reached on an error and moved up 90 feet on a groundout.Â
Noah Hayes (Battle Creek, Mich./Harper Creek H.S.) delivered a pinch hit single to score Stanley with the game's final run in the seventh.

George Pastor (Walled Lake, Mich./Central H.S.) was the only Gray Wolf with two hits in game two as Lourdes tallied seven total. Kyle Fisher went 3-for-3 to lead the Racers' 15-hit attack.

Rex Romero earned the win (1-0) with three innings of relief, allowing one run on two hits while
Paul Avila (Nogales, Ariz./Canyon Del Oro H.S.) suffered the loss (1-4), allowing seven runs and 10 hits in 3.1 innings.

Lourdes (5-19, 0-6) will head to Grand Rapids, Mich. this weekend for a four-game series with Aquinas. First pitch in Saturday's doubleheader at Kimble Stadium is set for 1 p.m.
