Lourdes was unable to break into the win column over the weekend against Madonna, dropping Sunday's doubleheader 11-0 and 6-3 at Ilitch Ballpark in Livonia, Mich.
In the opener Adam Prashad tossed a seven-inning three-hitter, striking out seven without walking a batter to earn the win (2-3).
George Pastor (Walled Lake, Mich./Central H.S.) had two of the three hits, while
Glen Crabtree (Medina, Ohio/Black River H.S.) had the other.
Madonna took advantage of five Lourdes errors in the game, scoring three unearned runs. The Crusaders scored two in the first, fourth, and fifth innings while adding four in the third. Shane Dokey went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored, and two RBI to pace Madonna in the opener.
A.J. Schraffenberger (Cincinnati, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick H.S.) suffered the loss (3-5), surrendering eight runs, five of which were earned, and eight hits in four innings on the hill.
The Crusaders jumped out to a 6-0 lead in game two through four innings before Lourdes got on the scoreboard with a three-run sixth inning.
Matt York (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) plated the first run with a RBI single while
Garrett Jex (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green H.S.) added a two-run double. All three runs were unearned in the inning as the Gray Wolves took advantage of a Madonna error.
Brandon Holt (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna H.S.) went the distance in the loss (2-3), allowing just four earned runs and seven hits while striking out four. Todd Jones earned the win (1-1), allowing three unearned runs and four hits in 5.2 innings of work for Madonna (23-14, 13-4 WHAC).
Lourdes (8-27, 2-14) will return to the diamond on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves host Northwestern Ohio. First pitch in game one of the doubleheader is set for 2 p.m. at Mercy Field.
