The second half of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play began on Saturday for Lourdes, but the Gray Wolves came up on the short end of a 75-60 decision to Michigan-Dearborn at the UMD Fieldhouse in Dearborn, Mich.

The Wolverines outscored Lourdes 42-24 in the paint and 21-2 off of the bench in a game in which the hosts led for more than 38 minutes.

Lourdes led 6-2, its only lead of the game, before a 23-7 run over a 10-minute span allowed the hosts to take control of the game. Michigan-Dearborn would allow its lead to fall under double figures just once the remainder of the half, and took a 34-24 lead into the locker room.

The Gray Wolves cut into the deficit immediately after coming out of the locker room, pulling to within three, 41-38, after a three-pointer by
Levert Bristol (Dothan, Ala./Northview H.S.) with 14:21 remaining. Another big run by the Wolverines, this one 24-7, immediately followed, as the hosts stopped the rally and put the game out of reach.

Desmond Frazier (Ocala, Fla./Dunnellon H.S.) led all scorers with 21 points for Lourdes while
Anthony Swanigan (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike H.S.) added 15 points.Â
Najeeb Johnson (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights H.S.) contributed 11 points for the Gray Wolves.

Lourdes shot 42.3% from the floor while the Wolverines connected at a 50% clip for the afternoon.

Marcus Williams led four Michigan-Dearborn (14-7, 8-5 WHAC) players in double figures with 19 points while Jason Penn added 16 more. The Wolverines committed just seven turnovers in the contest.

Lourdes (3-16, 2-10) returns home to begin a three-game homestand on Wednesday evening when Aquinas visits the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
