In a game that was tied after three quarters, Michigan-Dearborn outscored Lourdes by 14 points over the final 10 minutes to defeat the Gray Wolves 70-56 on Saturday afternoon at the UMD Fieldhouse in Dearborn, Mich.

The Wolverines used a 13-2 run over the first six minutes of the fourth quarter to take control of the game, building a 60-49 advantage. The Gray Wolves pulled to within six, 62-56, with 2:36 to play after a basket by
Molea Thompson (Mansfield, Ohio/Madison H.S.) following a
Jesse Fidler (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) steal, but Lourdes was unable to find the scoreboard the rest of the way, as Michigan-Dearborn scored the game's final eight points.

Lourdes built an eight-point advantage, 19-11, after the opening quarter after finishing the period on an 11-1 run, holding the hosts without a field goal for the final 4:20. Michigan-Dearborn answered in the second, holding the Gray Wolves to just three field goals while regaining the lead before halftime and taking a one-point edge, 28-27, at the break.

After falling behind by five with under three minutes remaining in the third, Lourdes battled back to tie the contest at 47 following a
Daja Whiteside (Auburn Hills, Mich./Avondale H.S.) layup in the final minute of the quarter, setting the stage for the final 10 minutes.

Lourdes shot just 31.8% from the floor for the game and turned the ball over 22 times which led to 23 Wolverine points.Â
Kalena Harris (Toledo, Ohio/Maumee H.S.) led the Gray Wolves with 13 points off of the bench while Whiteside tallied a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Fidler chipped in 10 points for Lourdes.

The Gray Wolves outrebounded Michigan-Dearborn 36-30 on the afternoon, including a 19-8 edge on the offensive glass which led to an 18-10 advantage in second chance opportunities.

Michigan-Dearborn (5-16, 2-11 WHAC) shot 49.1% from the field, and outscored Lourdes 48-22 in the paint. Jeorgia Jones led the Wolverines with 16 points off of the bench while Kendall Rose added 12 points and eight rebounds.Â

"We gave up too many easy baskets in transition," head coach
Summer Quesenberry said afterwards. "We have to be more collective and play defense together as a team. The best offense is generated by great defense."

Lourdes (5-15, 3-9) returns home to the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center on Wednesday evening to begin a three-game homestand, the team's longest of the season. The Gray Wolves will tip off against Aquinas at 6 p.m.
