Lourdes recorded its second victory of the season on Friday evening inside of the Franciscan Center Gymnasium, edging Calumet by the slightest of margins 28-27.

"Tonight was a close call but I'm elated that we found a way to pull out the victory," head coach Dock Kelly III said after the match.  "As always I appreciate the support of our home crowd."

The Gray Wolves scored the first 24 points of the match winning via forfeit in the first four weight classes.  Ray Porter (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville H.S.) was credited with the win at 125 pounds while Tyler Roberts (Hudson, Mich./Hudson H.S.) picked up his seventh victory of the year in the 133-pound weight class.  Flynn Hamilton (Tucker, Ga./Tucker H.S.) garnered his first collegiate victory at 141 pounds while Garrett Carter (Macedonia, Ohio/Saint Vincent-Saint Mary H.S.) notched his team-leading 11th win at 149 pounds.

The Crimson Wave battled back, posting first period falls at 157 and 174 pounds while earning a forfeit win of their own in the 165-pound weight class.

Noah Nuno (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga H.S.) stopped the Calumet run at 184 pounds, defeating Tim Miller, 10-2.  Nuno led 6-2 after both the first and second periods.  After scoring a point quickly in the third, he added three points late in the match to earn the major decision, and earning what proved to be the decisive points for the Gray Wolves as a team.

Calumet (2-14) earned another fall at 197 pounds before Colin McFarland (Carleton, Mich./Airport H.S.) kept his 285-pound contest close.  The match was scoreless heading to the final period before Scott Pitrowski earned a 4-0 decision.

Prior to the match beginning, Kyree Wiggins (Flint, Mich./Southwestern Academy) wrestled in an exhibition contest, and posted an 18-1 technical fall after two periods.

"We will take a few days off to recover now and then prepare for Heidelberg in our home finale next week," Kelly added.

Lourdes (2-9) will return to the mat on Wednesday evening to close out the home portion of the inaugural season hosting Heidelberg.  The match is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. inside of the Franciscan Center Gymnasium.
