Lourdes jumped out to a 32-point halftime lead on Monday evening, and the Gray Wolves defeated Great Lakes Christian 87-50 in the season opener inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
 
All 13 Gray Wolves that saw action scored in the contest, as Lourdes limited the Crusaders to 31% shooting for the game, including just 5-of-27 (18.5%) in the first half.  The Gray Wolves also held a 48-36 rebounding advantage on the night.
 
"It's always good to get that first one out of the way," head coach Josh Gibson said after the game.  "I was happy with how the guys came out focused and locked in ready to go.  We will look at film and see what we can improve upon as we head into this weekend."
 
A 20-2 run over the final six minutes of the first half allowed Lourdes to take control, building a 48-16 halftime advantage.  The Gray Wolves continued to increase the lead over the first eight minutes of the second half, pushing the lead to as many as 46, 70-24, with 12:44 remaining in the contest.
 
Malik Thurman (Dayton, Ohio/Stebbins H.S.) led all scorers with 19 points for the Gray Wolves while Kadeim Jones (Dayton, Ohio/Marshall H.S.), making his collegiate debut, added 15 points.  Hamish Abbott (Melbourne, Australia/Rowville Secondary) and Desmond Frazier (Ocala, Fla./Dunnellon H.S.) each added nine points.  Clif Snow (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown H.S.) pulled down 11 rebounds, 10 in the first half.
 
Isiah Reed led Great Lakes Christian (0-2) with 15 points while Ja'Quin Jones added 14 more.
 
Lourdes (1-0) will return to action on Friday evening at the Lancer Tipoff Classic.  The Gray Wolves will face Governors State beginning at 6 p.m. inside the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center in Winona Lake, Ind.
