Lourdes added another victory to its win streak on Friday evening, as the Gray Wolves defeated the University of Northwestern Ohio 25-18-, 25-16, 23-25, 25-20 inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center for their fifth consecutive victory.

The Gray Wolves hit .294 for the match, outblocked the Racers 12-7, and outdug their guests 78-66 to earn the win.

"We had some stellar individual performances and hit well tonight," head coach
Greg Reitz said afterwards. "When we served and passed well, we performed at a high level. They did a good job of extending some rallies though, and made us battle."

Tylar Roberson (Elkhart, Ind./Central H.S.) registered 21 kills and hit .356 while adding 17 digs for a double-double to pace the Gray Wolves.Â
Kristin Murrell (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) and
Chelsea Lawrence (Palmdale, Calif./Highland H.S.) each added 12 kills with Murrell tallying 17 digs and Lawrence hitting .360.Â
Jami Markus (Oregon, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) handed out 51 assists.

Defensively,
Angelica Dippold (Louisville, Ky./Mercy Academy) recorded 15 digs and
Shannon Fischer (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) added 14 more while
Emily Arnold (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) registered eight blocks, including three of the solo variety.

Lourdes tallied 16 kills in the opening set and never trailed in taking the early lead. Five straight points early gave the Gray Wolves a 9-4 advantage and five more late put the hosts in front 23-12. The Racers battled back with six straight points before Lourdes closed out the first set.

In the second, with Lourdes trailing 11-8, Markus served up a 5-0 run to put the Gray Wolves in front for good, as the team hit .458.

Northwestern Ohio (12-11, 1-7 WHAC) pulled out the third set after 12 ties and seven lead changes before Lourdes jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the fourth. The Racers rallied, scoring 10 of the next 12 points, but four straight attack errors by the visitors allowed Lourdes to rebuild its advantage and secure the win.

Stephanie Hanewold led Northwestern Ohio with 14 kills while Taina' Soranzo added 16 digs.

Lourdes (15-6, 6-2) will step out of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play for the final time this season on Saturday evening, as the Gray Wolves travel to Indianapolis, Ind. to battle 25
th-ranked Marina. First serve is set for 5:30 p.m. inside the Marian Physical Education Center.
