Michigan-Dearborn Trips Up Lourdes Saturday Afternoon

Lourdes shot just 32.1% from the floor on Saturday afternoon, including 23.3% from three-point range, and suffered a 72-52 setback at the hands of the University of Michigan-Dearborn inside the UMD Fieldhouse in Dearborn, Mich.

After falling behind 11-2 in the game's first two minutes, Lourdes scored 11 unanswered points, capped by a three-pointer from Clif Snow (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown H.S.), to take a 13-11 lead with 14 minutes to play in the opening half.  That would be the Gray Wolves' final lead of the game though.

Michigan-Dearborn (5-2, 3-0 WHAC) scored the game's next five points to retake the lead for good, and also finished the half on a 9-0 run to take a 37-26 lead into the locker room.  The Wolverines hit a pair of threes to open the second, pushing the lead to 17.

The Gray Wolves were able to get the deficit to single digits, as a pair of free throws by Malik Thurman (Dayton, Ohio/Stebbins H.S.) made it a 49-40 game with 10:33 to play.  It was still a 10-point game with six minutes to play, 56-46, before the Wolverines scored 13 unanswered points in a three-minute span to put the game out of reach.

Thurman led Lourdes with 16 points off the bench, while also pulling down a team-high six rebounds.  Jordan Fabry (Shalersville, Ohio/Crestwood H.S.) added 11 points while Desmond Frazier (Ocala, Fla./Dunnellon H.S.) chipped in 10 more.

"We played well in spurts today," head coach Josh Gibson said after the game.  "It was good to see some positives from certain players.  Hopefully we take some positives and work on putting together 40 complete minutes on Tuesday."

Xavier Crofford led four Wolverines in double figures with 21 points while Cody Kegley and Gage Throgmorton each added 12 points.

Lourdes (4-3, 0-2) returns home on Tuesday evening as the Gray Wolves host Concordia (Mich.).  Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
