Lourdes had a busy day on the mats Sunday at the John Carroll Duals, but the Gray Wolves came out on the short end of the score in all four matches at the DeCarlo Varsity Center in University Heights, Ohio.

The Gray Wolves fell to 37-9 to Lycoming in the opener before dropping a 25-20 decision to Alfred State. In match three Penn State Behrend registered a 27-20 win over Lourdes before the host Blue Streaks downed the Gray Wolves 39-15 in the finale.Â

"This was a tough day of wrestling against quality competition," head coach
Dock Kelly III said at the completion of the day. "We must learn to wrestle consistently because we cannot afford to give up pins and expect to be able to win the dual meet."

Lourdes took an early 9-5 lead over Lycoming after three bouts as
Tyler Roberts (Hudson, Mich./Hudson H.S.) won a 5-1 decision at 133 pounds before
Reilly Heater followed with a third period fall. The Warriors won all seven of the remaining matches though to score the victory.

Ty Wilson (Puyallup, Wash./Rogers H.S.) recorded a 19-0 technical fall at 149 pounds against Alfred State and
Ben Ferguson (Casstown, Ohio/Miami East H.S.) added a 4-1 victory at 285 pounds, but the Gray Wolves still came up short against the Pioneers.Â
Ty Wilson and
Tyler Gates (Smiths Creek, Mich./Marysville H.S.) both earned wins via forfeits in the match as well.

Lourdes built an early 20-6 lead against Penn State Behrend only to see the Lions rally with wins in each of the final five bouts.Â
Lane Trapp (Alexandria, Ala./Alexandria H.S.) won via tie-breaker 9-8 in the 125-pound weight class and
Tyler King (Cincinnati, Ohio/Northwest H.S.) earned a forfeit victory at 133 pounds. Heater recorded a pin just 1:04 into his 141-pound match and
Ty Wilson earned a fall of his own at the 1:41 mark of the 157-pound contest.

In the finale against John Carroll,
Hunter Jacks (Gallipolis, Ohio/Gallia Academy) picked up an 18-11 decision at 197 pounds while Roberts and Ferguson scored forfeit victories for Lourdes' only two other triumphs in the match.

"We will take a few days off for the holidays and then get ready for our dual match against Adrian in 10 days," Kelly added.

Lourdes (1-5) will travel to Adrian, Mich. on Nov. 30 for a 7 p.m. contest against Adrian College inside the Merillat Sport & Fitness Center.
