Sydney Miller (Huntsville, Ohio/Indian Lake H.S.) scored a career-high 31 points on Saturday afternoon, leading Lourdes to a 78-44 victory over Grace Bible inside the Aldrich Athletic Facility in Wyoming, Mich.
Miller made 9-of-21 three-point attempts in the contest, while the Gray Wolves made 13 triples in the game, as Lourdes snapped a two-game losing skid.
Lourdes also took advantage of a 62-45 rebounding advantage in the game, including a 29-16 edge on the offensive glass. The Gray Wolves scored 28 second chance points from the caroms.
"We played tough, together, and as a team," head coach
Summer Quesenberry said after the game. "I was impressed by our improvement on defense and our team's ability to hold Grace Bible 16 points below their average. We also pulled down 62 rebounds and took much better care of the ball."
After leading by one after the opening 10 minutes, the Gray Wolves extended their lead to nine, 32-23, at the break. A 27-point third quarter, which included a 21-0 run, allowed Lourdes to break the game open.
Lourdes limited Grace Bible (3-9) to just 24.5% shooting from the floor, including just 1-of-16 (6.3%) from three-point range, and forced 18 Tigers turnovers. Offensively, the Gray Wolves committed just 12 miscues themselves.
Tatyana Reynolds (Toledo, Ohio/Rogers H.S.) added 12 points while
LaTyrah Beasley (Toledo, Ohio/Bowsher H.S.) chipped in 10 more for the Gray Wolves as Lourdes finished with three players in double figures.
Jami Hardy (Perrysburg, Ohio/Cardinal Stritch H.S.) pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds, including eight on the offensive end of the floor for Lourdes.
McKenzie McCord led Grace Bible with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Lourdes (6-7) will look to return to the .500 mark in its final game before the holidays on Tuesday evening, returning home to entertain Wright State-Lake. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
