Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: Lourdes returns west to close out its road trip this weekend, playing two more matches in the Central time zone.  The Gray Wolves will face Saint Xavier on Friday evening before battling Calumet on Saturday morning.

Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his sixth season both on the Lourdes bench, and overall coaching men's volleyball, Greg Reitz has a 98-45 (.685) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  He was named to the MAMVIC East Coach of the Year in 2012 and the Great Lakes Conference Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2015 while earning Mideast Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2016.  Reitz is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes leads the all-time series against Saint Xavier 13-0 dating back to Jan. 20, 2012.  The Gray Wolves swept the Cougars in both meetings last year, and have won by a 3-0 score in four straight contests.  Lourdes holds a 7-0 record against Saint Xavier in Chicago.  Lourdes is 4-0 all-time versus Calumet in a series that began Feb. 3, 2015.  The Gray Wolves have swept all four matches against the Crimson Wave, including a pair last season.  Lourdes is 2-0 against Calumet in Whiting, Ind.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes opened the home portion of its schedule on Wednesday with a 22-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-20 win over Siena Heights.  Ryan Maune hit .538 with 15 kills.  The Gray Wolves dropped two matches Friday at the Moulten Invitational, falling 25-16, 25-23, 22-25, 16-25, 15-10 to Missouri Baptist and 24-26, 28-26, 26-24, 25-23 to Hope International. Colby Magorien had 14 kills against the Spartans and Zachary Hawkins tallied 17 kills against the Royals.  Lourdes rebounded with a 25-20, 20-25, 25-22, 25-21 win over Benedictine at Mesa and a 25-14, 21-25, 25-22, 25-21 triumph over Culver-Stockton on Saturday.  Hawkins recorded 13 kills against the Redhawks while Magorien and Brendan Brown each registered 14 kills against the Wildcats.

Scouting Saint Xavier: The Cougars have dropped four of their last five matches after suffering a four-set loss at home to Saint Ambrose on Tuesday evening.  Sean Barry leads the Cougars offensively with 62 kills while Aaron Kummer has handed out 122 assists.  Dan O'Keefe leads the team with 13 service aces while Dominic Villa has recorded a team-leading 46 digs.  Ben Gabor is the team's blocking leader with 16 rejections.  As a team Saint Xavier ranks third nationally recording 1.86 service aces per set.

Scouting Calumet: The Crimson Wave are still looking for their first victory of the season after dropping a four-set decision at Trinity Christian on Tuesday.  Calumet hosts Lindenwood-Belleville on Friday night before entertaining Lourdes on Saturday.  Trevor Wagner leads the Crimson Wave with 72 kills and 11 service aces.  Wagner and Jose Gonzales also share team-high honors with 38 digs.  Gonzales leads the team with 12 blocks while Liam Fagan has handed out 126 assists.

Rilveria Captures National Honors Again: CJ Rilveria was named the NAIA National Libero of the Week after averaging 4.05 digs per set for the Gray Wolves in five matches last week.  Rilveria had 85 total digs and added 14 assists as Lourdes went 3-2 on the week.  He leads all of NAIA volleyball averaging 4.0 digs per set this season. The senior also earned the honor on Jan. 24 for his efforts opening weekend, and has been recognized six times in his career.

Nearing 100: Head coach Greg Reitz is just two victories away from 100 for his career as a men's head coach.  In addition, Lourdes as a program is two wins away from 100 all-time.  Reitz began the Gray Wolf program prior to 2012 and is the only coach in program history.

Magorien Racking Up Kills: Colby Magorien has made the most of his first season with Lourdes, taking the team lead in kills.  The junior is just two kills shy of 100 for the year just eight matches into the season, and has already taken 254 swings.

Maune Efficient Offensively: Ryan Maune has made the most of his swings thus far this year, swinging at a .417 clip, a mark that ranks in the top-10 of NAIA.  He has 91 kills on just 168 swings and has hit better than .440 in five of the eight contests.

Sharing the Load: Ian Fields and Ryan Ferkel have split the load quarterbacking the offense this season.  Fields, a freshman, is averaging 6.40 assists per set while Ferkel, a senior, is tallying 6.19 assists per stanza.

Shifting Conferences: NAIA has reshuffled its conferences yet again heading into 2017. The Gray Wolves will play a double round-robin slate against Lawrence Tech, and Siena Heights as part of a divided independent group.  The top two teams from the three Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference schools will advance to the conference tournament against the top two teams among Benedictine at Mesa, Hope International, and UC Merced, which comprise the other half of the independent group.  The west coast will host this year's postseason event.

This and That: CJ Rilveria needs 31 digs for 800 in his career ... Ryan Maune is one block shy of averaging a rejection per set (30 blocks in 31 sets) to lead the team ... Lourdes has surrendered just 18 service aces in 31 sets ... the Gray Wolves are hitting .243 as a team ... Lourdes leads the country in kills per set (13.74) and assists per set (12.74).
