Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play begins this weekend for Lourdes University as the Gray Wolves make the trip to Grand Rapids, Mich. for a pair of contests. Lourdes will battle fourth-ranked Davenport on Saturday afternoon before playing a night contest at Aquinas on Sunday.
Head Coach Paul Sieben: In his fourth season on the Lourdes bench,
Paul Sieben has an 12-37 (.245) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves and as a collegiate head coach. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history. Sieben was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2016.
Series Notes: Davenport holds a 7-0 series advantage against Lourdes dating back to March 8, 2014. Last year the Panthers won all three meetings against the Gray Wolves, including a 14-3 triumph in the semifinals of the WHAC tournament. Davenport is 4-0 against Lourdes in games played in Grand Rapids, Mich. Aquinas leads the series with the Gray Wolves 4-2 dating back to March 22, 2014, but Lourdes swept last year's series, winning 10-4 at Wildcat Stadium and 9-8 in Grand Rapids. Aquinas holds a 2-1 series edge in games played in Grand Rapids all-time.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes posted a 1-2 record in Florida last week to conclude the non-conference portion of the schedule. The Gray Wolves fell in their opener on Tuesday 12-11 in double-overtime to sixth-ranked Columbia (S.C.) after tying the game with 3:41 remaining in regulation. Wednesday Lourdes dropped a 16-8 contest at sixth-ranked Ave Maria before bouncing back on Thursday with a 13-12 double-overtime triumph at Keiser on
Tiara Reed's game-winning goal.
Scouting Davenport: The Panthers have been idle since March 1 when they defeated Ave Maria 22-14 on the road. Brooke Knoll leads Davenport with nine goals and five assists for 14 points while Taylor Ries has found the back of the cage eight times. Samantha Powers has started both games in goal for the Panthers, sporting a 15.00 goals against average and a .400 save percentage.
Scouting Aquinas: The Saints enter the weekend following a 10-9 loss at home against Missouri Baptist on Monday and play at Lawrence Tech Saturday before hosting Lourdes. Anna Curcuru has scored a team-leading 13 goals while Cara Burns has added 11 more. Jayme Brizzolara has handed out a team-high five assists and has 10 points on the year. In goal, Genni Terrana has played a majority of the minutes, posting a 14.50 GAA and a .383 save percentage.
Lourdes in WHAC Openers: The Gray Wolves are looking to win a WHAC opener for the first time in program history on Saturday at Davenport. In the program's first three seasons, Lourdes has fallen at home to Indiana Tech and at Lawrence Tech and at Davenport to begin league play.
Game #50: Saturday's game at Davenport will mark the 50th in program history for Lourdes. The Gray Wolves have 12 all-time victories in the first 49 contests.
Facing Ranked Foes: Lourdes will play its third NAIA top-10 opponent in its first four games on Saturday at fourth-ranked Davenport. In fact, the Gray Wolves have played 27 top-10 foes in the first 49 games the school has played, but are still looking for their first win against a ranked opponent
Long Scores #100: Alyssa Long scored her 100th career goal in the season opener against Columbia (S.C.) in the season opener last Tuesday. The junior holds school records with 108 career goals and 124 career points.
Bonus Lacrosse: Lourdes had never played an overtime contest in program history prior to this season, but played two last week. The Gray Wolves fell in double-overtime to Columbia (S.C.) before defeating Keiser in the second extra session.
Captains Named: Lourdes has tri-captains this season.Â

Lolo Garza, and
Alyssa Long are serving as the leadership role. Cullis and Long are two-time captains while Garza is in her first season in that role.
