Lawrence Tech pushed across two runs in the top of the 13^th inning and defeated Lourdes 12-10 on Saturday afternoon at Mercy Field in the opening game of a three-game weekend series.
 
Runs came early and often before pitching took over late in the four-hour, eight-minute marathon, which saw 29 hits, 17 walks, and eight hit batsmen.
 
The Blue Devils struck first with three runs in the top of the first, only to see the Gray Wolves answer with four in the bottom half of the frame.  After Noah Childress (Toledo, Ohio/Start H.S.) put Lourdes on the scoreboard with a RBI groundout, Glen Crabtree (Medina, Ohio/Black River H.S.) tied the game with a two-run home run to right, his first collegiate round-tripper.  Two batters later Kyle Sherman (Collierville, Tenn./Rossville Christian Academy) doubled home Devin Stanley (Euclid, Ohio/Saint Edward H.S.), giving Lourdes the lead.
 
The hosts added to the lead in each of the next two innings as Dallas Riggs (Prescott, Ariz./Paradise Valley H.S.) delivered a RBI single in the second and Crabtree scored an unearned run in the third following a Blue Devil error.
 
Lawrence Tech tied the game in the fourth with three runs and retook the lead 7-6 with another tally in the sixth.  The Blue Devil lead was short-lived though, as sacrifice flies by George Pastor (Walled Lake, Mich./Walled Lake Central H.S.) and Crabtree in the bottom half of the inning put the Gray Wolves back in front.  Stanley added a RBI single and Lourdes had a 9-7 lead.
 
The Blue Devils again responded, plating two runs in the seventh to tie before Pastor's two-out single in the bottom of the seventh made it 10-9 Lourdes.  Lawrence Tech tied the game in the top of the eighth, before the game turned into a pitcher's duel heading to extra innings.
 
David Klug, who earned the win (1-0) for Lawrence Tech, entered in the bottom of the seventh and proceeded to toss seven innings of shutout baseball, scattering five hits and walking three while striking out eight.  Mike Vomastek (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson H.S.) gave Lourdes three scoreless frames from the ninth through the eleventh, and Bill Laranga (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee H.S.) tossed a scoreless twelfth.
 
In the thirteenth, the Blue Devils plated a pair against Laranga, who suffered the loss (0-1), as a single, sacrifice bunt, and a single followed by two throwing errors allowed the visitors to earn the win.
 
Pastor, Riggs, and Stanley each had two hits for Lourdes as part of a 13-hit contest while Max Cadman and Ryan Robinette each had three of Lawrence Tech's 16 hits on the day.
 
Lourdes (4-14, 1-9 WHAC) and Lawrence Tech (5-15, 2-8) will wrap up their weekend series at Mercy Field on Sunday with a doubleheader.  Game one is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
