Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: Lourdes opens the home portion of its 2017 schedule on Wednesday as the Gray Wolves host Siena Heights. After a trip to Concordia (Mich.) on Saturday, Lourdes returns to Wildcat Stadium on Sunday evening to entertain Lawrence Tech.
On the Air: The game against Siena Heights will be broadcast tape-delayed by BCSN on Buckeye Cablesystem. The game will air on BCSN at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, noon on Thursday, and 4:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Friday. In addition, BCSN2 will show the game on Thursday at 3 a.m. and Friday at 10 p.m.
Head Coach Paul Sieben: In his fourth season on the Lourdes bench,
Paul Sieben has a 12-39 (.235) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves and as a collegiate head coach. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history. Sieben was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2016.
Series Notes: Siena Heights holds a 5-1 series advantage over Lourdes dating back to March 18, 2014. Last year the two teams split a pair of meetings with the Saints winning 14-12 at Wildcat Stadium and Lourdes posting a 12-7 win in Adrian, Mich. Lourdes has never met Concordia (Mich.) in women's lacrosse. Lawrence Tech is 6-0 all-time against Lourdes dating back to March 25, 2014. Last year the Blue Devils scored 19-2 and 17-5 wins over the Gray Wolves.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes fell behind 10-1 at halftime on Saturday before suffering an 18-3 setback at Davenport. Sunday, Aquinas posted a 14-6 win over the Gray Wolves, spurred by an 11-1 run spanning the two halves.
Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints have dropped back-to-back games following a 29-10 loss at Davenport on Sunday. Kayla Parks leads Siena Heights with 25 goals while Aliisa Mason has 15 goals and eight assists. Tabitha Ferguson has posted an 11.25 goals against average and a .443 save percentage.
Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals dropped a 22-2 game at Lawrence Tech Sunday and hosts Davenport on Wednesday before playing Lourdes. Lauren Litogot has scored a team-high seven goals while Jessica Russ has added five. Samantha Shatrau has played a majority of the minutes in goal, sporting a 16.56 goals against average and a .389 save percentage.
Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils remained undefeated after a 22-2 victory over Concordia (Mich.) on Sunday. Lawrence Tech faces Madonna and Siena Heights before visiting Lourdes. Kadijah Kalo leads the team with 19 goals and 30 total points while Anna Gagnon has added 16 goals. Marie Klonowski has played every minute in goal, sporting a 6.00 goals against average and a .583 save percentage.
Lourdes in Home Openers: The Gray Wolves are looking to win a home opener for the first time in program history. Lourdes dropped a "home" game at Ultimate Soccer Arena to open the 2014 campaign, suffered a loss at the Legacy Center in the "home" opener in 2015, and suffered an 11-5 setback to Robert Morris (Ill.) at Wildcat Stadium last year.
Freshman Pacing the Defense: Mary Tressel has made the most from the first five games of her collegiate career. The freshman has a team-high 22 ground balls, double any other Gray Wolf, while also leading the team with 14 caused turnovers.
Slow Starts: Lourdes has found itself playing from behind in each contest this season, as the Gray Wolves have yet to lead at halftime. In fact, Lourdes has been outscored 41-17 over the opening 30 minutes while narrowing the margin to 30-23 in the second half.
Captains Named: Lourdes has tri-captains this season.Â
