Lourdes limited the University of Michigan-Dearborn to just 29.4% shooting and 49 total points on Saturday afternoon, and opened the second half of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play with a 59-49 victory over the Wolverines inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

"I was really proud of our defense today on a day in which we didn't have our best execution on offense," head coach
Josh Gibson said following the contest.

The Gray Wolves allowed Michigan-Dearborn to make just 1-of-14 three-point attempts and the Wolverines shot just 58.1% (18-of-31) from the free throw line.

Lourdes started quickly, scoring the game's first nine points on the way to a 15-2 lead after
Jordan Fabry (Shalersville, Ohio/Crestwood H.S.) drained a triple five minutes into the contest. The Gray Wolves extended their lead to 23-8 midway through the opening half as the Wolverines made just two of their first 14 shots from the floor.

Michigan-Dearborn cut the Gray Wolf advantage to 10, 26-16, with four minutes to play before halftime, but back-to-back triples by
Clif Snow (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown H.S.) and Fabry followed and Lourdes took a 32-18 lead into the locker room.

The Gray Wolves held a 15-point advantage, 40-25, five minutes into the second half when Michigan-Dearborn scored seven straight points to pull within single digits for the first time since 9-2.

Lourdes led 50-39 with 7:26 to play following a putback by
McRay White (Cleveland, Ohio/Garfield Heights H.S.), only to see the Wolverines respond with six straight points over the next four minutes to pull within five, 50-45, at the four-minute mark.

Deuce Martin (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview H.S.) scored inside to stop the run and the Gray Wolves were able to maintain at least a five-point lead the rest of the way.

Fabry led Lourdes with 18 points while
Malik Thurman (Dayton, Ohio/Stebbins H.S.) added 11 more. Snow pulled down a team-high 13 rebounds as the Gray Wolves finished with a 40-31 advantage on the glass.

Xavier Crofford led Michigan-Dearborn (12-10, 7-5 WHAC) with 13 points while Jason added 11 more for the Wolverines.

Lourdes (10-10, 3-8) looks to move over the .500 mark on Wednesday evening when the Gray Wolves travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to battle Aquinas. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. inside the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center.
