Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: Lourdes closes out its season-opening homestand on Wednesday evening hosting NCAA Division I foe Fort Wayne before heading to the Judson Early Bird Invitational on Friday and Saturday.  The Gray Wolves will face Menlo, Quincy, Mount Mercy, and Robert Morris (Ill.) in Elgin, Ill.

Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his seventh season both on the Lourdes bench, and overall coaching men's volleyball, Greg Reitz has a 114-53 (.683) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  He has earned five conference Coach of the Year honors during his first six seasons at Lourdes.  He is the only head coach in program history.

Series Notes: Lourdes and Fort Wayne have split four meetings 2-2 dating back to Jan. 25, 2013.  Last year the Gray Wolves defeated the Mastodons in four sets in the Ebeid Rec Center in Fort Wayne's first visit to Sylvania.  Lourdes has never met Menlo or Mount Mercy on the volleyball court.  Quincy won the only previous meeting against Lourdes, in straight sets, on March 12, 2014 in Quincy, Ill.  Lourdes holds an 11-1 series advantage against Robert Morris (Ill.)
dating back to Jan. 28, 2012.  The Gray Wolves have won five straight meetings between the two schools.
 
Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves the season on Friday afternoon suffering a 29-27, 19-25, 25-18, 25-20 setback to Culver-Stockton to open the Lourdes Invitational.  Evan Gebert had a team-high 16 kills.  Lourdes picked up its first win of the year on Friday night, 25-23, 24-26, 25-23, 25-19, against Saint Ambrose.  Gebert tallied 18 kills.  Saturday the Gray Wolves fell to third-ranked Missouri Baptist 25-21, 25-18, 25-20 despite 11 kills from Gebert.

Scouting Fort Wayne: The Mastodons are unbeaten in six matches to start the year after sweeping Sacred Heart on Saturday.  Pelegrin Vargas has a team-high 72 kills and is hitting .372 while Michael Keegan has handed out 204 assists.  Keegan also has 44 digs while Richie Diedrich has tallied 19 blocks.

Scouting Menlo: The Oaks enter the week having dropped three straight matches after falling in four sets to UC Merced on Friday.  Akash Dhothar leads the team with 56 kills while Trey Lake has handed out 148 assists.  Pedro Almeida has tallied 56 digs for Menlo while Tyler O'Reilly has added 10 blocks.

Scouting Quincy: The Hawks have dropped back-to-back matches after falling in five sets to Saint Ambrose on Monday.  Brandon Davis has tallied a team-high 34 kills and is hitting .358 while Thane Fanfulik has handed out 118 assists.  Collin Merk has recorded a season-high 40 digs while Shane McAdams has 11 blocks on the year.

Scouting Mount Mercy: The Mustangs won back-to-back matches against Trinity Christian and Marantha Baptist last Saturday to open the season and travel to Graceland on Tuesday prior to .  Nikola Stoimenov has recorded 16 kills and is hitting .423 while Andrew Colantone has handed out 37 assists.  Defensively, Colantone has a team-high 15 digs while Ben Steffen has registered 10 blocks.

Scouting Robert Morris (Ill.): The Eagles have yet to play in 2018, but open their season against Judson on Tuesday and Lawrence Tech on Thursday before heading to the Judson Earlybird Invitational.

An Efficient Effort: Matt Mittry took advantage of his return to the court following last season's injury, swinging at a .556 clip last weekend in the Lourdes Invitational.  Mittry put down 17 kills on 27 swings while committing just two errors.

An All-Around Leader: Evan Gebert led the Gray Wolves both offensively and defensively during the opening weekend.  Gebert had a team-high 45 kills (4.09/set) while adding 20 digs defensively, second most on the roster.

Everyone Sees Action: Everyone that dressed, saw action for the Gray Wolves during the opening weekend.  Seventeen of the 18 players on the roster appeared on the court, with only Ryan Maune, who's currently sidelined with an injury, failing to take the floor.

Ubior Steps into Libero Jersey: Eric Ubior stepped into the libero jersey for the first time in his career this weekend, serving in the role for 10 of the 11 sets.  He tallied 31 total digs (2.82/set) while handing out eight assists.

Sharing the Setting Duties: Lourdes utilized three setters during the first weekend of action.  Henrique Gehrke handed a majority of the duties, dishing out 91 assists in 10 sets.  Ian Fields and Isaiah Williams both saw time in the role as well.

This and That: Evan Gebert, Jeff Lam, and Eric Ubior are the only Gray Wolves to appear in all 11 sets last weekend ... Evan Gebert is four kills of 300 for his career ... Lourdes led in all 11 sets at some point during the first three matches.
