Indiana Tech, ranked fifth in the nation in the latest NAIA Division II poll, rallied from 11 points down with nine minutes to play to defeat Lourdes 73-70 on Saturday afternoon inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

The Gray Wolves had a chance to tie as time expired, but Clif Snow's (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown H.S.) bid for a sixth three-pointer in the game went off the back iron.

"I was happy with our energy and effort tonight," head coach Josh Gibson said afterwards.  "Unfortunately the execution was not quite good enough.  We have to recognize that all possessions matter throughout the game, not just ones that appear big at the end."

Lourdes took the lead 26-17 midway through the opening half with an 11-0 run in less than four minutes.  The Warriors answered with seven straight points, but Vic McEwen (Flint, Mich./Atherton H.S.) stopped the run with a three-pointer with just under five minutes to play before the break.

The Gray Wolves still maintained a four-point edge with 1:47 to play before intermission before Indiana Tech closed the half on an 8-0 run and took a 37-33 lead into the locker room.

A 13-5 run by Lourdes out of halftime put the Gray Wolves in front 46-42, and Lourdes continued to add to its advantage, pushing the lead to 10, 54-44, when Jordan Fabry (Shalersville, Ohio/Crestwood H.S.) connected on a jumper as the shot clock expired.

After Indiana Tech closed to within five, Snow drained back-to-back triples, to give Lourdes a 60-49 lead with 8:59 to play.  Snow had 17 of his team-high 20 points, including all five three-pointers, in the second half.

Following a Warrior timeout, the visitors went on a 13-0 run over the next four minutes, taking the lead on a layup by Darren Groves.  Malik Thurman (Dayton, Ohio/Stebbins H.S.) stopped the spurt to tie the game at 62, but Indiana Tech scored eight of the next 10 points to push their advantage to 70-64 with 2:46 to play.

A Thurman jumper with 1:44 to play made it a three-point game and Desmond Frazier (Ocala, Fla./Dunellon H.S.) scored inside with just over a minute to play, making it a 71-70 contest.  Lourdes forced a miss, but was called for a travel on the change of possession with under a minute to play.  Indiana Tech missed again with 35 seconds left, but grabbed an offensive rebound.  After the Warriors made two free throws, Lourdes had its chance to tie but was unsuccessful.

Deuce Martin (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview H.S.) and Thurman each scored 12 points for Lourdes as the Gray Wolves shot 45.5% from the floor on the afternoon.

Groves led Indiana Tech (21-4, 13-2 WHAC) with 18 points and 15 rebounds as the Warriors held a 41-23 advantage on the glass, including a 16-5 edge on the offensive end which led to 18 second chance points.  Dylan Phair scored 17 points and Nic Williams added 16 points for Indiana Tech as five Warriors finished in double figures.

"This team is too talented to be satisfied with moral victories," Gibson added.

Lourdes (10-13, 3-11) takes to the road on Wednesday evening, heading to Ann Arbor, Mich. to battle Concordia (Mich.). Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. at Cardinal Fieldhouse.
