Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: Lourdes wraps up a busy stretch in which the Gray Wolves will have played six matches in eight days on Wednesday. Lourdes travels to Lawrence Tech for a divisional match in the independent grouping in the middle match of a nine-contest road trip for the Gray Wolves. Following the match, Lourdes will have eight days off.
Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his seventh season both on the Lourdes bench, and overall coaching men's volleyball,
Greg Reitz has a 117-55 (.680) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. He has earned five conference Coach of the Year honors during his first six seasons at Lourdes. He is the only head coach in program history.
Series Notes: Lourdes holds a 6-0 series advantage against Lawrence Tech dating back to Jan. 20, 2016. Last season the Gray Wolves swept a pair of matches against the Blue Devils, one in Southfield, Mich. and one at the Ebeid Rec Center. All six Lourdes victories in the series have come via sweeps, and the Gray wolves are 2-0 all-time in matches played in Southfield, Mich.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes began the week suffering a 25-17, 25-14, 25-19 setback to NCAA Division I foe Fort Wayne at home on Wednesday evening.Â
Evan Gebert led Lourdes with nine kills against the Mastodons. The Gray Wolves began the Judson Early Bird Invitational with a 22-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-20 victory over Menlo on Friday.Â
Jeff Lam hit .310 with a team-high 15 kills. In the second match on Friday, Lourdes suffered a 25-18, 26-24, 25-19 setback to Quincy. Gebert had a team-high 11 kills. The Gray Wolves won a pair of matches on Saturday, beginning with a 25-8, 23-25, 25-15, 17-25, 15-12 triumph over Mount Mercy. Lam and Gebert each tallied 14 kills in the win. The week ended with a 27-29, 27-25, 25-18, 25-23 victory over 10th-ranked Robert Morris (Ill.).Â
Matheus Andrade posted a team-high 18 kills in the victory.
Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils picked up their first victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, snapping a seven-match losing skid with a straight sets victory at Judson to conclude the Judson Early Bird Invitational. Alejandro Gonzalez leads Lawrence Tech with 69 kills and is hitting .171 on the season while also registering a team-high nine service aces. Gospel Sua has handed out 183 assists. Defensively, Joshua Eckert has tallied 57 digs while Jacob Weber has recorded a team-leading 13 blocks.
Winning in Five: Lourdes earned a five-set victory over Mount Mercy on Saturday morning for the time since defeating Missouri Valley on the road in five sets on Feb. 26, 2016. The five setter was the first of the year for the Gray Wolves, and snapped a three-match losing skid in such matches. Lourdes went 0-2 in five setters last year. All-time the Gray Wolves are 11-11 in matches that go the distance.
Slow Starts: Lourdes has taken some time to get going in matches this season. The Gray Wolves have won the opening set just twice all year, a four-set win over Saint Ambrose and a five-set triumph over Mount Mercy. Lourdes has not won a match via sweep since April 8, 2017, a span of 12 contests.
Doubling Up: Ian Fields posted a pair of double-doubles for the Gray Wolves on Saturday, the first two by Lourdes players this season. He handed out 39 assists and registered 1 digs in the five-set victory over Mount Mercy before dishing out 48 helpers and adding 10 digs against Robert Morris (Ill.). The 48 assists were the most by any Gray Wolf this year.
Controlling the Middle: Matt Mittry has been solid in the middle of the Gray Wolf offense thus far this season both offensively and defensively. He leads the team with a .476 hitting percentage while putting down 48 kills (1.66/set). Mittry has made just eight attack errors. Defensively, Mittry has 27 total blocks (0.93/set), including 11 solo rejections, in 29 sets played.
A Model of Consistency: Evan Gebert has posted double figure kill totals in seven of the Gray Wolves' eight matches this season. The only match in which he has failed to register 10 kills came against Fort Wayne, when he had a team-leading nine kills. Gebert has 109 total kills on the season, including a season-high 18 against Saint Ambrose on Jan. 19.
Among the Nation's Leaders: Lourdes ranks third as a team among all NAIA schools, averaging 10.43 digs per set this season. The Gray Wolves also rank eighth in service aces per set (10.80) and are 10th in both hitting percentage (.206) and kills per set (11.50).
Individual Leaders: Matt Mittry ranks fifth in the NAIA hitting .476 on the season.Â
Eric Ubior is seventh nationally registering 2.90 digs per set while
Ian Fields ranks 11th handing out 8.65 assists per stanza.Â
Evan Gebert's 3.63 kills per set are 12th best in the country while Mittry ranks 13th with 0.93 blocks per set.
