Lourdes saw the home portion of the 2017-2018 season end on Wednesday evening, as the Gray Wolves suffered a narrow 22-18 loss to Davenport inside the Franciscan Center Gymnasium.

"This was yet another tough loss for us tonight," head coach
Dock Kelly III said after the contest.  "We had the match under control, but we let it get away from us by giving up too many falls."

The Gray Wolves jumped in front early in the lightweight classes.
Ray Porter (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville H.S.) improved to 7-1 on the season at 125 pounds after earning a 15-0 technical fall just 40 seconds into the second period.  He scored 14 points in the opening period on the way to the victory.

Tyler Roberts (Hudson, Mich./Hudson H.S.) followed with an 11-4 decision at 133 pounds.  The result gave him his team-leading 15
th victory of the season, and put Lourdes in front 8-0.

Davenport responded with nine straight points in the next two matches, earning a fall at 141 pounds and a decision in the 149-pound weight class.

Ty Wilson (Puyallup, Wash./Rogers H.S.) put the Gray Wolves back in front before intermission though, earning a 13-3 major decision at 157 pounds for his 12
th win of the year.

Following the break,
Bobby Kelley (Ney, Ohio/Fairview H.S.) increased the Lourdes advantage to 15-9 with a 6-1 decision before the Panthers made their rally.  A major decision and a fall put Davenport back in front and the Panthers secured the victory with a decision at 197 pounds.

Ben Ferguson (Casstown, Ohio/Miami East H.S.) finished the match on a high note for the Gray Wolves, earning a 3-0 victory at 285 pounds for his 10
th win of the season.

"We have to eliminate so many mental errors," Kelly added.  "The margin for error is getting smaller as we near our conference qualifier, so we must continue to work to improve in these areas."

Lourdes (3-14) will head to Baldwin Wallace on Saturday, as the Gray Wolves compete in the Summa Invitational.  Action is slated to begin at 10 a.m. inside of Urspring Gymnasium.
