The Lourdes men's soccer team fell short on Wednesday afternoon as it dropped a 3-0 decision at Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference-foe Concordia.
The Gray Wolves surrendered the first goal of the afternoon in the eighth minute of play after Charlie Miles took advantage of an Anthony Tucker assist to give Concordia (6-10 overall, 4-5 WHAC) a 1-0 lead early in the match.
The Lourdes defense would stiffen and hold the Cardinals in check until the 38
th minute of play as Concordia capitalized and found the back of the net to take a 2-0 lead into the intermission.
Concordia put away an insurance goal late in the second stanza, scoring in the 82
nd minute to seal the 3-0 victory.
Freshmen
Ali Chokr (Bint Jbail, Lebanon/Fontainebleau (La.)) and
Garrett Baxley (Trenton, Ohio/Edgewood) split time in the net for Lourdes as Chokr stopped one shot and Baxley recorded four saves during the match.
Concordia won the shot total by a 23-13 margin and edged Lourdes in corner kicks, 6-2.
The Gray Wolves (2-12-1 overall, 1-8-1 WHAC) return to action and celebrate Senior Day this Saturday as they play the second of a double header with the women's soccer team and host Siena Heights at 3 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
