Clif Snow (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown) netted a career-best 31 points, but the Lourdes men's basketball team fell to No. 16-ranked Indiana Tech 79-76 in a competitive battle inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center on Wednesday evening.
Â
The two teams got off to a blistering start as they combined for an 11-for-12 start from the floor, sinking eight consecutive shots to begin the contest.
Â
Kadeim Jones (Dayton, Ohio/Marshall) capitalized on an and-one with 15:28 left in the first half to help Lourdes climb within 15-14.
Â
A back-and-forth half saw the Gray Wolves grab their first lead of the contest at 24-22 as Snow nailed one of his five three-pointers with 10:04 remaining in the first half. From there, the two teams would exchange leads for the remainder of the half before Indiana Tech (7-4, 4-0 WHAC) took a 41-37 edge into the break.
Â
Holding a 64-50 advantage with 11:41 remaining in the game, Indiana Tech saw its largest lead of the game shrink to 66-60 following a 10-2 run capped off by another three-pointer from Snow.
Â
Lourdes slowly clawed its way back into the contest and pulled even at 71-71 with 4:47 remaining in the contest as
Brett Lauf (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) capitalized on a steal and assist from
Desmond Frazier (Ocala, Fla./Dunnellon).
Â
After Indiana Tech regained the lead at 76-71, a pair of free throws from Frazier and a pull up three-pointer from Jones evened things right back up at 76-all with just over two minutes to play. A free throw and a layup with 6.5 seconds left on the clock proved to be the game-winning points for the Warriors as a desperation three-pointer from Frazier fell short at the buzzer.
Â
Snow's 31 points led the way for both offenses, while Jones and Lauf matched each other with 10 points each.
Tyler Kegley (Mount Gilead, Ohio/Northmor) pulled down a team-high nine rebounds for the Gray Wolves. Snow has now scored double-digit points for the seventh consecutive game and in nine of the teams 10 games.
Â
Logan Primerano led the Indiana Tech offense with 22 points.
Â
Lourdes finished the contest 29-of-61 (47.5%) from the field, including 11-of-30 (36.7%), while Indiana Tech was 31-of-54 (57.4%) from the field and 10-of-19 (52.6%) from three-point range.
Â
The Gray Wolves edged the Warriors 31-26 on the boards.
Â
Lourdes (6-4, 0-3) returns to action and take to the road on Saturday as they travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. and meet Cornerstone for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
