The Lourdes women's basketball team found itself in an early hole on Wednesday evening and couldn't fight its way back as it fell 71-40 to No.7-ranked Indiana Tech on Wednesday evening at the Ebeid Recreation Center.

"They are the No. 7-ranked team in the country for a reason," head coach John Kenger stated following the contest. "We just need to get back in the gym and get back to work."

Lourdes got off to a slow start in the first quarter as the visiting Warriors (9-1, 4-0 WHAC) jumped out to an 11-1 lead to force a Gray Wolf timeout with 2:03 remaining in the first stanza. Ramiah Henry (Toledo, Ohio/Waite) was able to sink a pair of late free throws to cut the lead to 11-3 after one quarter.

The Gray Wolves saw an uptick on the offensive side in the second quarter as Keyvona Davis (Columbus, Ohio/South) scored six of Lourdes' 11 second quarter points. Indiana Tech held a 31-14 advantage at the intermission.

Lourdes took advantage of an early Indiana Tech turnover to begin the second half as Christiana Jefferson (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame) went coast-to-coast and finished with a fast break layup. Indiana Tech was able to widen their lead over the course of the contest as it went on to claim the 71-40 victory.

Davis paced Lourdes offensively with eight points off the bench. Jami Hardy (Perrysburg, Ohio/Cardinal Stritch) pulled down a team-best six rebounds.

Indiana Tech was led by 16 points from Kendall Knapke, while Alexis Bell and DeAnn Kauffman added 16 and 14 points, respectively.

The Gray Wolves finished 16-of-50 (32.0%) from the field, while the Warriors shot at a 43.4% clip on 23-of-53 shooting from the field.

The Gray Wolves (4-5, 1-2) return to action and take to the road on Saturday as they travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. and meet Cornerstone for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
