Lourdes started quickly on Thursday evening, but Adrian responded with a 35-9 victory to spoil the Gray Wolves' home opener inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

Ray Porter (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville H.S.) started things quickly for the Gray Wolves at 125 pounds. After an early takedown, he needed wasted little time registering his team-leading third fall of the season at the 1:47 mark of the opening period to give the hosts a 6-0 lead.
Jacob Supina (Sandusky, Ohio/Saint Mary Central Catholic H.S.) was poised to add to the Lourdes lead at 133 pounds, building an early 6-0 lead before his opponent cut the deficit in half after the opening frame and evened the match with a pin 30 seconds into the second period.
Adrian (4-1) built upon its momentum, winning the next seven matches as well, one by forfeit, another via tech fall and three by major decisions.
Garrett Carter (Macedonia, Ohio/Saint Vincent-Saint Mary H.S.) led 1-0 after two periods at 157 pounds for the Gray Wolves before dropping a 3-1 decision.
Hunter Jacks (Gallipolis, Ohio/Gallia Academy) was involved in a tight contest as well at 197 before falling 3-1 on a late takedown.
Alec Moore-Nash (Price Hill, Ohio/Elder H.S.) finished the day with a positive note for the Gray Wolves at 285. The freshman built a 3-0 lead with an escape and a takedown in the middle stanza and added a point for riding time in a 4-0 decision to improve to 4-1 on the season.
"We have a short turnaround until we step on the mat again, but I am confident that we will come ready to wrestle," Kelly concluded.
Lourdes (3-3) will remain home on Saturday afternoon, hosting Kent State-Tuscarawas and Ohio Valley in a tri-match. The opening bout is slated for 1 p.m. inside the Franciscan Center Gymnasium.
