Lourdes picked up their fourth and fifth victories of the season on Saturday, setting a new wins mark for the program, as the Gray Wolves downed Kent State-Tuscarawas 41-6 and Ohio Valley 24-19 inside the Franciscan Center Gymnasium.

The Gray Wolves matched the total wins from the program's first two seasons combined, as Lourdes won three matches last year and two in 2016-2017.

Lourdes took control of the match against Kent State-Tuscarawas from the beginning, and never let up.  Ray Porter (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville H.S.) began the day with a forfeit victory at 125 pounds before Jacob Supina (Sandusky, Ohio/Saint Mary Central Catholic H.S.) followed with a pin 1:35 into his match at 133.

Chris Jedding (Mason, Ohio/Mason H.S.), making his collegiate debut, was victorious for Lourdes at 141 pounds.  He took a 5-0 lead after two periods before earning an 8-1 decision.  Garrett Carter (Macedonia, Ohio/Saint Vincent-Saint Mary H.S.) followed with a 7-1 decision in the 149-pound class.

The Gray Wolves added back-to-back falls at 157 and 165 as Garret Anderson (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) picked up his third of the year at the 3:57 mark while Bobby Kelley (Ney, Ohio/Fairview H.S.) followed with the same result in 4:27.  Through the first six bouts, Lourdes had not trailed at any point in a match.

Kent State-Tuscarawas (0-4) won back-to-back decisions at 174 and 184 before Lourdes closed the match.  Noah Nuno (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga H.S.) earned a two-point takedown just before time expired to earn a 19-4 tech fall.  Alec Moore-Nash (Price Hill, Ohio/Elder H.S.) closed the match with a fall at 285 pounds in just 23 seconds.

"This first match today was a great bounce back win for us," head coach Dock Kelly III said in between contests.  "The guys wrestled solid and aggressively in every match.  I was especially pleased with the level of our conditioning in every match."

The contest against Ohio Valley came down to the final bout before the Gray Wolves pulled out the victory against the NCAA Division II foe.

Porter began the match with an 8-6 decision after trailing entering the final period 5-4.  The Fighting Scots evened the match with a decision at 133 before Jedding earned his first career fall at the 2:32 mark of the opening period.

Lourdes extended its lead to 21-3 after Carter and Anderson both won via forfeits at 149 and 157.  Ohio Valley (2-1) battled back, winning each of the next four bouts, one by fall, one by major decision, and two by decision, to pull within two, 21-19, heading into the final match.

Moore-Nash took a 2-0 lead into the final period and scored a takedown late in the match to earn a 4-2 decision, securing the win for the Gray Wolves.

"This was a tremendous team win over a quality Division II opponent," Kelly said following the second match.  "Every match mattered so we are very fortunate to come away with a victory.  We have several areas that we need to work on to prepare for next week.  We are looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead of us."

Lourdes (5-3) will have a week off before returning to the mat next Saturday to compete in the Warrior Duals hosted by Indiana Tech.  Action begins with a match against Cumberlands (Ky.) at 10:30 a.m.  The Gray Wolves will also face Oklahoma City, Campbellsville, and Marian inside the Schaeffer Center.
