Game #3: Sunday, February 25, 1 p.m. EST
at Marian (0-0, Independent)
Saint Vincent Field - Indianapolis, Ind.

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: After a three-week layoff, Lourdes returns to action this weekend with a pair of games in Indianapolis, Ind.  The Gray Wolves will battle Asbury on Saturday afternoon in a neutral site contest before playing host Marian in a Sunday matinee.

Head Coach Alyssa Shaver: In her first season on the Lourdes bench, Alyssa Shaver has a 1-0 (1.000) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves and as well as a collegiate head coach.  She is just the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes won the only previous meeting against Asbury, 12-9, on March 5, 2016 in Wilmore, Ky.  The Gray Wolves have never met Marian in women's lacrosse.

Wrapping Up Last Week (or Two Weeks Ago): Inclement weather forced the postponements of Lourdes' scheduled games in Tennessee on Feb. 10-11.  The Gray Wolves were slated to play at Tennessee Wesleyan and Lincoln Memorial, but rain and flooding in Tennessee, along with a winter storm in Ohio, made travel and playing difficult.

Scouting Asbury: The Eagles finished 5-9 overall and 3-5 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference in 2017.  Asbury returns 12 players from last year's squad, including the team's leading scorer Ashley Byrd, who scored 29 goals and had 14 assists for 43 total points.  Savannah Neese added 23 goals and 30 total points.  Kellie Payne returns in goal after posting an 11.93 goals against average and a .387 save percentage in more than 700 minutes.  The Eagles open their season on Friday, facing Marian, before battling Lourdes.

Scouting Marian: The Knights posted a 9-8 record overall as an independent in 2017.  Marian returns 13 players from last year's squad.  Julia Robson led the Knights with 60 goals and 29 assists for 89 total points while Kori Garland added 49 goals and 59 points.  Casey Monahan appeared in goal for nearly 900 minutes, sporting an 8.78 goals against average and a .498 save percentage.  Marian opens its season hosting Asbury on Friday before hosting Lourdes.

A Record-Setting Opener: Lourdes scored a school-record 22 goals in the season opener against Cleary.  The effort bettered the previous mark of 21 set on April 10, 2017, when the Gray Wolves defeated Madonna 21-4, and marked just the second time in program history Lourdes scored 20 or more goals in a game.

More Top Marks: Lourdes added four assists in the win at Cleary, giving the team 26 total points, one more than the previous record at Madonna on April 10, 2017.  In addition, the 38 total shot attempts rank second in program history behind the 40 taken in the Madonna game.

Hunt Hands Out Helpers: Ashley Hunt accounted for two of the four Gray Wolf assists at Cleary, becoming just the 14th player in program history to have two helpers in a contest.  No Lourdes player has ever had three in the same game.

Sharing the Wealth: Lourdes had nine goal scorers in the season opener, led by five from Tiara Reed and four by Shelby KellarAlyssa Long found the back of the cage three times while Ashley Hunt, Anna Zofchak, and Hannah Cullis had two goals each.  Katherine Garver also scored twice, her first two collegiate goals, while Haley DeChant also recorded her first collegiate tally.  Anna Marie Weber also found the back of the net.

Making the Stops: Kiley Ketteman finished the season opener with 10 saves, posting a .500 save percentage.  The effort helped increase her career save percentage to .396.

Doing the Little Things: Tiara Reed grabbed a team-high six ground balls in addition to her five goals, while Hannah Cullis won six draw controls for the Gray Wolves in the opener.

This and That: With appearances in both games this weekend, Alyssa Long will match Lolo Garza's (2014-2017) career games played record of 49 ... the win over Cleary was just the second victory ever for the Gray Wolves in a season opener ... Lourdes allowed just two goals in nine free position attempts against the Cougars.
