Lourdes opened the spring portion of its 2018 season on Tuesday evening, dropping a non-conference game to Siena Heights 4-1 at the SHU Baseball Diamond in Adrian, Mich.
Â
The Saints jumped in front in the bottom of the first, scoring a pair of runs, one of which was unearned. Lourdes answered in the second as
Glen Crabtree (Medina, Ohio/Black River H.S.) led off with a triple and scored two batters later on a
Reilly Walters (Bowmanville, Ont./Bowmanville H.S.) single.
Â
Siena Heights tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the second, one of which was unearned following a pair of Gray Wolf miscues, and that would be all of the scoring on the evening.
Â
Lourdes managed just six hits, five of which came off the starter Thomas Lindeman, who earned the win (1-0). Lindeman walked one and struck out five in five innings of work. Robert Oliver III tossed four scoreless innings for his first save, yielding just one hit and fanning four for the Saints.
Â
Zach Brown (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) suffered the loss (1-1), pitching six innings, allowing just two earned runs and six hits. He struck out seven and walked three.Â
Â
Lourdes (3-4) will head to Leesburg, Fla. on Monday afternoon to face another Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foe, Rochester (Mich.) in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch in game one is set for 9 a.m. at Pat Thomas Stadium.
