Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: Lourdes returns home to Wildcat Stadium this week for a pair of games, beginning with a non-conference tilt on Tuesday night against Heidelberg. The Gray Wolves then open Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon, entertaining Indiana Tech.
On the Air: Tuesday's game against Heidelberg will be broadcast by BCSN on a tape-delay basis as part of Buckeye Broadband. The game will air on BCSN on Wednesday evening at 5 p.m and Thursday at noon. In addition, BCSN2 will broadcast the game on Wednesday at 2 a.m., Thursday at midnight and 4:30 p.m., Friday at 11:30 a.m., and Saturday at 1:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Head Coach Alyssa Shaver: In her first season on the Lourdes bench,
Alyssa Shaver has a 5-2 (.714) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves and as well as a collegiate head coach. She is just the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes will be meeting Heidelberg on the lacrosse field for the first time in program history. Indiana Tech holds a 9-0 series advantage over the Gray Wolves dating back to March 5, 2014. Last year the Warriors posted a 17-4 victory in Fort Wayne, Ind. and a 19-9 triumph at Wildcat Stadium. All-time, Indiana Tech holds a 2-0 series edge at Wildcat Stadium.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes scored seven straight goals to build a 12-2 advantage in the second half, and withstood a late Notre Dame (Ohio) rally on Thursday to defeat the Falcons 13-9 in South Euclid, Ohio.
Alyssa Long scored six times and added three assists while
Hannah Cullis tallied three goals in the victory.
Kiley Ketteman made four saves in goal for the Gray Wolves.
Scouting Heidelberg: The Student Princes have dropped back-to-back games after falling 18-8 at Otterbein on Saturday to open Ohio Athletic Conference action. Anna Winnicki has a team-leading 21 points after scoring 14 times and adding seven assists while Angela Lulejian also has scored 14 goals. Jessica Ballow has played a majority of the minutes in the cage, posting a 6.76 goals against average and a .478 save percentage.
Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors have won three of their last four games after an 18-9 victory at Georgetown (Ky.) on Thursday. Indiana Tech hosts Bethel (Ind.) on Monday before facing Lourdes. Kristina Scott leads the Warriors with 32 points on 24 goals and eight assists while Sam Vikstrom has 20 goals. Bailey Childs has 28 points, including a team-high 12 assists. Sydney Davis sports an 8.45 goals against average and a .419 save percentage in goal.
Looking for the School Record: Lourdes matched its 2017 win total of five with its victory over Notre Dame (Ohio) on Thursday. The Gray Wolves' next victory will equal the program record of six set in 2016 when Lourdes finished the year 6-10 overall.
WHAC Openers: When Lourdes faces Indiana Tech on Saturday, the Gray Wolves will be looking to win a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opener for the first time ever. The Gray Wolves are currently 0-4 in openers, losing last year 18-3 at Davenport.
Jumping in Front Early: Lourdes has outscored its opponents by 44, 114-70 this season, doing most of the damage in the first half. The Gray Wolves have scored 73 first half goals, more than doubling up the opposition 73-35 in the opening 30 minutes before holding just a 41-35 scoring edge in the second half.
Among the Nation's Leaders: Alyssa Long ranks fourth in the NAIA averaging 6.71 points per game. Her 4.71 goals per contest are seventh best nationally, and her 2.00 assists rank ninth in the country. Lourdes ranks eighth in the country as a team scoring 16.29 goals per game and its 5.43 assists per contest rank 10th on the national level.
Looking for a Program First: Lourdes enters the Heidelberg game with two straight wins for the second time this season and fifth time in program history. The Gray Wolves have never won three consecutive games since the program was founded in 2014.
