Lourdes jumped out to the early lead on Thursday afternoon in Ann Arbor, Mich., but Concordia (Mich.) rallied for a 12-5 victory over the Gray Wolves to open a three-game series at Cardinal Stadium.

George Pastor (Walled, Lake, Mich./Central H.S.) put Lourdes in front three batters into the game with a double that scored
Jay Denman (Toledo, Ohio/Saint Francis de Sales H.S.), who led off the game with a walk.

The Gray Wolves extended their lead to 3-0 on a two-run double by
Dallas Riggs (Prescott, Ariz./Bradshaw Mountain H.S.) in the third inning, scoring Pastor and
Cameron Gallo (Mason, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick H.S.) with two outs.

The Cardinals got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third via a two-run home run by Will Harris. A four-run fourth, capped by a two-run homer from Omar Prieto, added to the lead. Prieto hit his second home run of the game in the sixth, increasing the Concordia lead to 8-3.

Gallo tripled home
Glen Crabtree (Medina, Ohio/Black River H.S.), who reached on an error, in the seventh inning and scored himself one batter later on a Riggs single, pulling the Gray Wolves within three, 8-5 heading into the stretch.

Concordia plated three in the bottom of the seventh and added one final run on Harrris' second homer of the day in the eighth to complete the scoring.

Pastor and Riggs each had three hits for Lourdes in the loss while Gallo and
Dan Johnson (Westland, Mich./Franklin H.S.) had two-hit games as part of an 11-hit effort for the team. Prieto led Concordia with four hits while Harris and Ben Balgaard had three hits each for the Cardinals as part of a 19-hit attack.

Brendan Lyons earned the win (2-1) for Concordia, tossing four innings of relief, allowing two runs and five hits while striking out four.Â
Zach Sharp (Katy, Texas/Katy H.S.) suffered the loss (1-1) in relief for the Gray Wolves, allowing four runs and three hits in his one inning of work.

Lourdes (15-17, 6-13 WHAC) and Concordia (24-10, 11-6) will conclude their three-game series on Friday afternoon with a doubleheader. First pitch in game one is set for 1 p.m. at Cardinal Field.
