Lourdes picked up its first road victory of the 2018 season on Friday evening, as the Gray Wolves defeated the University of Michigan-Dearborn 25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 25-17 inside of UMD Fieldhouse in Dearborn, Mich.

The Gray Wolves hit .289 as a team on the evening, led by 15 kills from
Tylar Roberson (Elkhart, Ind./Central H.S.) and a double-double from
Monique Oliveira (Rio Branco, Brazil/Americo Rene Giannetti H.S.). Oliveira hit .542 with 13 kills and no errors while also registering 14 digs defensively.

The opening set had 17 ties and seven lead changes before Lourdes scored the final two points on back-to-back kills by
Emily Drenth (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South H.S.) and Roberson.Â

There were nine more ties in the second set, where the Wolverines hit .306 as a team to even the match. With the set tied at 19, Michigan-Dearborn ran off five straight points to take control of the stanza.

Lourdes took control early in the third set, and following a 16-16 tie, rebounded with four straight points to retake the lead in the match. The Gray Wolves put down 16 kills and hit .389 in the set.

The Gray Wolves took the lead 7-1 in the fourth set with seven straight points and never looked back on the way to securing the victory. The lead grew to as many as 11 in the stanza before Lourdes settled for the eight-point victory.

Drenth registered 12 kills giving Lourdes three players in double figures while
Carol Goncalves (Brazilia, Brazil/Sagrado Corcacao de Maria H.S.) handed out 41 assists while adding three service aces.Â

Defensively,
Niki Polce (New Boston, Mich./Huron H.S.) had a team-high 15 digs while
Emily Arnold (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) was involved in five blocks.

Bronte Michura led Michigan-Dearborn (3-9, 0-3 WHAC) with 15 kills while Caitlyn Carlson recorded 22 digs defensively.

Lourdes (5-1, 2-1) continues its four-match road trip on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Ann Arbor, Mich. to battle Concordia (Mich.). First serve is set for 5 p.m. inside of Cardinal Fieldhouse.
