Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: Third-ranked Lourdes begins a six-match road trip with its second consecutive four-match week.  The Gray Wolves head to Cincinnati Christian on Wednesday evening before venturing to Saint Charles, Mo. for the weekend to participate in the Lindenwood Invitational.  Lourdes will face NCAA Division II foes McKendree, Lindenwood, and Quincy over the course of the weekend.

Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his eighth season both on the Lourdes bench, and overall coaching men's volleyball, Greg Reitz has a 140-59 (.704) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  He has earned five conference Coach of the Year honors during his first seven seasons at Lourdes.  He is the only head coach in program history.

Series Notes: Lourdes is 8-0 all-time against Cincinnati Christian in a series that began Jan. 17, 2014.  The Gray Wolves won a pair of matches last season against the Eagles, including a four-set victory in the Queen City and a 3-0 sweep in the Ebeid Rec Center.  Lourdes is 4-0 all-time against Cincinnati Christian in Cincinnati.  Lourdes has never met McKendree or Lindenwood in men's volleyball.  Quincy is 2-0 all-time against Lourdes dating back to March 12, 2014.  Last season the Hawks swept the Gray Wolves in Elgin, Ill.

Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves opened the 2019 season with a 25-15, 25-22, 25-20 sweep at Goshen on Tuesday (Jan. 22).  Ricardo Gehrke led the way with 15 kills.  Friday the Gray Wolves began with a 25-16, 25-15, 20-25, 25-10 win over Webber International behind 18 kills from Evan Gebert and 52 assists from Henrique Gehrke.  Lourdes came back that evening to down 10th-ranked Saint Andrews 25-16, 25-12, 25-18 as Ricardo Gehrke had 11 kills.  Saturday the Gray Wolves swept Robert Morris (Ill.) 25-20, 25-18, 25-11 as Gebert put down 17 kills.

Scouting Cincinnati Christian: The Eagles have been idle since a season-opening three-set loss to Erksine on Jan. 18.  Michael Hiroskey led the way with seven kills and 11 assists.  Cincinnati Christian was slated to play at Goshen on Monday, but the match was postponed due to weather.

Quite an Offense: Lourdes hit .407 as a team to open the season last weekend, a percentage that ranks second among all NAIA programs.  The Gray Wolves are also second in kills per set with 13.69.  The Gray Wolves' five main hitters all are hitting over .375, led by Jeff Lam's .481 clip.  Brendan Brown (.440), Lance Blough (.433), Ricardo Gehrke (.423), and Evan Gebert (.376) have all performed for the offense run by Henrique Gehrke, who's 12.23 assists per set lead the nation.

Playing Defense as Well: Lourdes was solid defensively in the opening weekend as well, outdigging its opponents 124-77 while outblocking the opposition 27.5-11.  The Gray Wolves also yielded just 12 service aces in 13 sets.
