Gray Wolves Fall in Double-Overtime to #15 Racers

Lourdes continued Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday night, falling in overtime to #15 Northwestern Ohio 2-1 at Wildcat Stadium.
 
Just 8:28 into the first half of play, Farouk Amoo (South Holland, Ill./Thornwood H.S.) took a ball from a throw-in and sent it across the box to a wide open Reece Riccardi (Jupiter, Fla./Suncoast H.S.), who netted his second goal of the year to give Lourdes an early 1-0 lead.
 
The rest of the first half went scoreless, as the Gray Wolves carried the advantage into the second half despite UNOH leading 6-5 in shots at the break.
 
In the second half, the Racers controlled the possession for the majority of the stanza. In the 66th minute, Mikhail Radchenko found a wide open net after Devin Morgan sent a cross ball over the defense to the other side of the field.
 
Ali Chokr (Bint Jbail, Lebanon/Fontainebleau [La.] H.S.) kept the match deadlocked after made 11 saves in regulation, including one on a Racers penalty shot with 20 minutes to play.
 
The first overtime period only saw just one shot, which was taken by UNOH. In the second overtime, the Racers put the pressure on with a 5-1 shot edge.
 
The final shot for Northwestern Ohio found the back of the net off the boot of Karim Jouini from the left side of the box that originated from a cross by Mikhail Radchenko. 
 
Northwestern Ohio (7-0-5, 5-0-1 WHAC) finished the match with a 27-8 shot advantage, including a 15-2 edge on goal. Chokr made 13 total saves for the Gray Wolves, while Mark McMillan saved just one of the two shots he faced.
 
Lourdes (4-9, 2-4 WHAC) will return to the road on Friday evening, traveling to Grand Rapids, Mich. to battle Cornerstone.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Soccer Stadium.
