Shawnee State showed why it is ranked 11
th in NAIA Division I on Friday evening as the Bears defeated Lourdes 105-46 inside of Waller Gymnasium in Portsmouth, Ohio.

The Bears shot 56.1% from the floor, including nearly 68% in the second half, and made 11-of-25 (44%) three-pointers in the contest while holding the Gray Wolves to just 30.4% shooting on the evening, including a 23.3% clip from long range.

Shawnee State jumped out to an 11-2 lead on the way to building a 15-point advantage after one quarter. Lourdes hung tough in the second, and trailed 43-25 at the break. The Bears outscored Lourdes 23-11 in the third quarter and continued to pull away in the final stanza.

Mare West (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) led Lourdes with nine points on 4-of-7 shooting in her collegiate debut while
Sara Semler (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer H.S.) added eight points.Â
Krisah Lewis (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) added six points in nine minutes of action as 11 different Gray Wolves found the scoring column in the season opener.

Brandie Snow led Shawnee State (1-0) with 23 points, 11 steals, and eight rebounds while Anyia Pride had 21 points on 10-of-12 shooting. Bailey Cummins also had a double-double for the Bears with 11 points and 12 assists.

Shawnee State outrebounded Lourdes 35-27 on the evening while forcing 32 Gray Wolf turnovers.

Lourdes (0-1) will return to the hardwood on Tuesday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face Grace Christian. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Aldrich Athletic Facility.
