Lourdes suffered a 25-20, 15-25, 25-17, 25-20 setback to Cornerstone on Friday evening inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center to open up Homecoming weekend on campus.

The Gray Wolves hit just .094, and were without a player in double figures in the kills column.Â
Kennedy Ames (Milan, Ohio/Edison H.S.) and
Kylee McBride (Peoria, Ariz./Mountain Ridge H.S.) led Lourdes with nine kills each.

With Lourdes leading 7-4 in the opening set, Cornerstone went on an 8-1 run to take the lead for good. The Golden Eagles hit .302 with 18 kills in the first stanza.

The Gray Wolves led the entire second set, as Cornerstone committed 12 attack errors and hit -.128. Lourdes held a 14-13 lead before scoring 11 of the final 13 points to even the match.

Lourdes held a 16-14 lead in the third before the Golden Eagles scored nine unanswered points to seize control and build a 2-1 advantage in the match. The fourth set was tied at 15 when Cornerstone scored the next four points to take the lead for good in closing out the contest.

Cornerstone (13-16, 10-8 WHAC) held a 49-35 edge in kills and a 63-60 advantage in digs for the night while also registering 10 service aces.

Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) led Lourdes with 18 digs while
Megan Vayansky (Pickerington, Ohio/North H.S.) had a double-double with 19 assists and 11 digs.

Alexis Angus led the Golden Eagles with 15 kills and hit .364 while Olivia Keelean had 19 digs and 10 kills.

Lourdes (11-14, 8-9) will close out the home portion of the 2019 regular season on Saturday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves host Aquinas. First serve is set for 1 p.m. with Senior Day activities taking place prior to the match.
