Lourdes registered victories in each of the first bouts on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves defeated Defiance 29-14 inside of the Karl H. Weaner Center in Defiance, Ohio.

"Tonight was a solid team effort against a scrappy Defiance team," head coach
Dock Kelly III said afterwards. "Our lightweights gave us quite a bit of momentum tonight, and it was great to end the match with a fall."

Ray Porter (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville H.S.) started the night at 125 pounds registering a fall with 30 seconds remaining in the second period before
Jimmy Balazy (Parma, Ohio/Padua Franciscan H.S.) followed with a 10-8 sudden victory at 133 pounds.Â

Nick Henneman (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) and
Garrett Carter (Macedonia, Ohio/Saint Vincent-Saint Mary H.S.) continued the momentum, with both recording major decisions at 141 and 149 pounds respectively. Henneman was a 13-2 victor while Carter won 16-4.

Garret Anderson (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) made it a perfect 5-for-5 to start the day for Lourdes winning a 7-2 decision in the 157-pound weight class.

After Defiance (0-1) earned wins at 165 and 174,
Isaac Ingram (Lima, Ohio/Bath H.S.) scored a 9-5 decision at 184 pounds to continue the Gray Wolves' winning ways.

The Yellow Jackets earned won final win at 197 before
Alec Moore-Nash (Price Hill, Ohio/Elder H.S.) capped the night with a pin just 29 seconds into his heavyweight bout.

"We have a short window of time to work on some areas where we need improvement, but I'm looking forward to competing this weekend," Kelly concluded.

Lourdes (1-1) will take to the road on Saturday to compete in the Baldwin Wallace Invitational. Action begins at 10 a.m. inside of Urspring Gymnasium in Berea, Ohio.
