Lourdes took a seven-point lead into halftime against 19th-ranked Siena Heights on Saturday, but the Saints rallied in the third quarter and defeated the Gray Wolves 63-49 inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

"We had a great first half but had a little trouble with their pressure in the second," head coach John Kenger said afterwards.  "We have to keep working for a full 40 minutes."

The Gray Wolves started quick against the nationally ranked Saints, making five three-pointers in the opening quarter.  Lourdes jumped out to a 10-1 lead and led by as many as 12 in the first quarter before taking a 21-11 lead into the second stanza.

Nine straight points by Siena Heights closed the gap to three, 23-20, midway through the second period before Lourdes answered with a triple by Baylee Baldwin (Ottawa Lake, Mich./Whiteford H.S.) and a basket by Erica Cary (Central City, Ky./Muhlenberg County H.S.) to push the lead back to eight.  The Gray Wolves would eventually take a 30-23 lead into the locker room.

A 13-0 run by Siena Heights early in the third put the visitors in front for the first time, as the Saints built a 38-32 advantage by the 6:32 mark of the period before taking an eight-point lead into the final 10 minutes.

After the Saints' lead grew to 48-38 a minute into the fourth, Lourdes scored seven straight points, five coming from Sara Semler (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer H.S.), to pull within three, 48-45, with 7:31 to play.  Siena Heights responded with the game's next 10 points to pull away and avoid the upset.

Semler and Mirandia Green (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer H.S.) led the Gray Wolves with 12 points each while Baldwin finished with eight points, all in the first half.  Lourdes shot 36.7% from the floor and after starting 5-of-10 from long range, made just one of its final 13 attempts from three.

Demi Russell led Siena Heights (11-1, 7-0 WHAC) with 15 points while Addyson Tomczak added 14 more.

Lourdes (3-10, 2-6) will step out of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Monday evening, as the Gray Wolves travel to Spring Arbor.  Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the MacDonald Athletic Center in Spring Arbor, Mich.
